Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away
My wings are like a shield of steel.
Broadening the horizons slightly, I would go for the little bit of Sir William Walton's original score "Battle in the Air" ........that was retained for the 1969 film, 'The Battle of Britain'..... you know, the swirling dogfight bit.....
The rest of the score was dropped before the film was released, and replaced with one by Ron Goodwin.
Who needs lyrics..........
Is there anybody out there?
Learning to fly - Tom Petty.
Fly like an eagle - Seal.
"Eagle" by Abba. (From "Abba - The Album").
It's OK, I'll put my anorak away now..............and my sparkly all-in-one jump suit...................
Like Bad Reception it has to be good ole' Frank Sinatra for me with Come Fly with Me and Fly Me to the Moon...you cannot beat a bit of swing...
Almost forgot the most obvious one:
"Volare" - Dean Martin
Anything by Led Zepplin...
... or Jefferson Airplane for that matter.
sorry about this...
"Like a Virgin"
or the B52's
Delta Lady...Joe Cocker
Rocket Man....Elton John
Endless Flight.....Leo Sayer
Trains and Boats and Planes....Astrid Someone!
badreception:Learn to fly....Foo Fighters
What a brilliant song and a hilarious video to boot. Foo Fighters also released the song 'A320' about Dave Grohl's fear of flying, which was featured on the Godzilla soundtrack.
Other aviation-related ones I can think of are 'Treetop Flyer' by Stephen Stills, along with 'Just A Song Before I Go' by Crosby, Stills & Nash which references United Airlines' campaign of the late 1960's/early 1970's - Fly The Friendly Skies....
Vidi, Vici, Veni. I saw, I conquered, I came.
erm..there's always the classic Saxon track 747 (strangers in the night) which has the jolly opening line of
'We got a 747 coming down in the nightThere's no power, there's no runway lights'
The thing is: there are a LOT of 'flying' songs.
Many of the I learned sometime during flight training (military) in Canada, and we even had a small booklet with song-texts. Unfortunately I have lost this booklet, but next to that most songs can be qualified as "dirty language".
These songs never appeared on any hitparade, I fear.
Perhaps I can find some song-texts if I start digging.....
"Volare" (original: Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu), but by the Author: Domenico Modugno
How about anything by U-2?
Seems like a good combo to me, although there seems to be a lack of a snack option to choose from!!!
AirSpace - more than just hot air
Up up and away ! ( I know its about balooning!)
Yes, by the "Fifth Dimension",
"Up, up and away".
A child of the sixties. Much altitude gained without release from the grass.
So no-one else thought about "Learning to FLy" from Pink Floyd or "Five Miles Out" from Mike Oldfield?
