I would like to nominate Juan Terry Trippe the founder of Pan American World Airways who's vision resulted in the worlds first global airline system and drove the development of so many aircraft, including the Martin M-130, Boeing 314, 707 and finally the 747.

The 'real' Pan American and Juan Trippe may no longer be with us but their legacy continues.
