Boeing has delivered its first BBJ3, a VIP version of the 737-900ER, to DeCrane subsidiary, Pats Aircraft, in Georgetown, Delaware, for its auxiliary fuel tank and head-up display installation.
Boeing expects the fuel system to be certificated within two months, after which the aircraft will delivered to an unnamed completion centre chosen by the unnamed customer. Final delivery is expected in 2009, says Boeing.
Equipped with blended winglets, the $74 million BBJ3 features 104m² (1,120ft²) of floor space, amounting to 35% more cabin volume than the BBJ2, which is based on the 737-800. With its five auxiliary tanks, the BBJ3 has a range of just over 10,000km (5,430nm).
