Avro Vulcan lands at RAF Waddington to star in air show's static display

The Avro Vulcan, registered G-VLCN (XH558), has been granted its permit to fly and will make an appearance at the Waddington International Airshow on 5 and 6 July.

The aircraft, which is based at Bruntingthorpe Airfield, received its permit to fly from the Civil Aviation Authority on 3 July. The permit allowed the delta-wing bomber to fly to RAF Waddington but because it has not yet been granted a flying display authorisation, visitors will be able to see it only on static display.

Dr Robert Pleming, chief executive of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, which has restored the Cold War bomber, said: "I am absolutely delighted to announce that Avro Vulcan has subsequently landed safely at RAF Waddington to be present for this weekend’s airshow."

He said he'd like to thank the Vulcan's supporters "who contributed much more than any other source towards returning their aircraft to flight".
