FARNBOROUGH 2008: Displays on display

Avionics display specialist Barco is to supply multi-purpose control display units for the Lockheed C-130H Hercules transports and Dassault Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft operated by the French armed forces.

The two fleets are being modernised with Thales’ TopDeck integrated avionics suite - the new Barco units will be installed in over a hundred aircraft as part of that programme. Deliveries of the equipment, designated CDMS-3000, will start later this year.

CDMS-3000 features a 3in x 4in active-matrix LCD screen combining high brightness and contrast levels with compact dimensions, low weight and, Barco says, exceptional energy efficiency.

Other applications of CDMS-3000 include the Boeing 737-700, Lockheed C-130J Hercules and Lockheed C-5 Galaxy. The Barco product range also includes the FDU-2000 general-aviation flight display units, selected for the Pilatus PC-12 and Grob spn [SUPERSCRIPT n] business aircraft.
