Aer Lingus is to hire 96 former SR Technics employees at an expanded line maintenance facility at Dublin Airport. Last year Aer Lingus renewed its line maintenance contract with SR Technics who employed 220 in that capacity at Dublin. Following the decision by SRT to close its Dublin operation earlier this year the company had been in discussion with Aer Lingus for several months as to how the contract would be executed. Yesterday Aer Lingus announced that it would hire 96 former employees of SRT who would join a newly formed subsidiary named Aer Lingus (Ireland) Ltd. The new subsidiary will provide line maintenance for the Aer Lingus fleet. To facilitate the new operation, Aer Lingus has reached agreement with the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) for the long term lease of the former SRT Hangar 6 where the Aer Lingus maintenance and operational functions will be co-located.
