Prestwick Airport closed after Ryanair 737 skids on ice patch
Prestwick Airport was closed for a short time this morning when Ryanair's B737-8AS EI-DHD skidded on ice and slid off the runway onto a grass verge. The aircraft was operating flight RYR 772 from Dublin to Prestwick and had performed a normal landing at approximately 08.45. Whilst taxiing from the runway the aircraft encountered the patch of ice and came to rest with the nose and main gear on soft ground. The 129 passengers disembarked normally and were bussed to the terminal. Ryanair issued a bulletin at 11.00 confirming that the airport had reopened and that the aircraft appeared to have suffered no damage.
