Azerbaijan Airlines is to acquire four A320 aircraft, three from Air Berlin and one from Swiss operator Belair. This afternoon two of the Air Berlin aircraft, D-ABDI (msn 2853) and D-ABDJ (msn 2865) emerged from the paint hangar in Shannon in the Azerbaijan colours. Both aircraft had arrived in Shannon on December 23 last as white tails. A third aircraft, Belair's HB-IOT arrived on December 28, also as a white tail and is currently undergoing livery change.
This afternoon's departures saw the aircraft leave Shannon for Dusseldorf where they will presumably undergo the final tweaks before delivery. D-ABDI is named "Naftalan" (a city in Azerbaijan) and will become 4K-AZ78 whereas sister ship D-ABDJ is named "Oghuz" (a Turkish tribe) and will become 4K-AZ79 after transfer.
