Of farm and sky.
Thu, Jul 29 2010 12:31 AM

This is the story of a quiet dairy farmer who used to take me flying in Tiger Moths and Austers during the mid 1950s. Hugh Baxter has been flying continuously since then and has been a member of the Waikato Aero Club without a break since those far-off times.

"WINGS OF TIME". # 06. The Miles 'Hawk' and 'Magister'.
Thu, Jul 15 2010 1:40 AM

This look at the dear old "Maggie" was fun to write as I really enjoyed flying them in New Zealand some 50 years ago when I was still a spotty teenager. Should bring back some memories for the more 'mature' reader!

This may interest those with an interest in Sky-dive operations which are quite a tourist attraction in New Zealand. It outlines the process involved in converting a 30 year old agricultural machine into a quality jump-ship.

Waikato Microlight Club's annual 'Family Fun' weekend. A New Zealand sport-flying item.
Tue, Jul 6 2010 12:14 AM

I wondered whether to Post this item, but then thought that it does provide a 'snapshot' of our sport and recreational flying activity out here in the South Pacific. We have a population of only 4.2 million but have over 3,000 aircraft on our civil register; most of them light aircraft. And it is still affordable for many of our people!

"RETURN TO THE JUNGLE". A New Zealand pilot returns to flying in Papua New Guinea.
Mon, Jul 5 2010 10:41 PM

This is an item about a chum of mine who has exchanged his life, as a domestic line pilot in New Zealand, for the challenge of flying Twin Otters in PNG; a country where he operated back in the mid 1990s. I have also outlined the current status of Airlines PNG, a company I worked for during its formative period.
