Air Italy B757/230 EI-IGA is back to US

Air Italy, the leisure airline lead by Giuseppe Gentile have ferried back to US her first delivered Boeing B757/230s EI-IGA routing Milan Mxp-Keflavik-Victorville. Soon, B757s EI-IGB is scheduled to be repossed. The Italian airline have decided to phase out all B757s now in service before end of summer schedule 2010. B737NGs will take place of them.

Wizz launch new services to Bergamo and Forlì from Wroclaw

Budget carrier Wizz is launching a new base in Wroclaw and it will open by summer 2010 two new routes to Italy. Wroclaw-Forlì is two times a week on mondays and fridays. Wroclaw-Bergamo is three times a week on tuesdays/thursdays/saturdays. Wizz will use on these routes 180 seater A320s.

CargoItalia lands in North America

New York and Toronto has joined the network of CargoItalia from last September 27 2009. Two weekly flights are at this time scheduled towards these gateways of North America while operated with MD11SFs. This new route (Milan Mxp-New York JFK-Toronto-Milan Mxp) follow the opening of services to Hong Kong. CargoItalia is still focusing new routes towards Persian Gulf and in Central Asia. In the case of this airline is planned the arrival of a third MD11SFs in the first months of 2010. CargoItalia aims to be the most important Italian cargo airline at Milan Malpensa airport.

Air Arabia Maroc open sales on services to Bologna and Treviso

The new services from Casablanca to Bologna and Treviso are appeared on the airline booking engine. They are available for bookings since last Sept 27 2009 and new services will begins by Oct 25 2009 on Casablanca-Treviso and Oct 26 2009 on Casablanca-Bologna. Treviso will have three flight a week and Bologna is planned with 4xweek flights.

Iberia will reduce route Madrid-Turin

The route Madrid-Turin effectively by Oct 26 2009 with new winter 2009/10 schedule will have less flights than in summer timetable 2009. Spanish flag airline Iberia have decided to drop 5 weekly flights downgrading services from 21 to 16.

Alitalia: Low cost only from Milan Malpensa

The new future strategy for Milan Malpensa is to play as low cost airport with flights operated by AirOne. Rocco Sabelli, CEO of Alitalia have recently defined the new future for the most important Northern Itgaly airport in that type of business. He affirm tha 85 % of travellers in departure from Milan main gateway have in the hands only low fare tickets. No future of international relaunch is granted to the port of call with that decision in consideration also of coming Expo 2015 planned at Milan.

Tarom fly to Bari

Three weekly flights on the newcoming route Bucuresti Otopeni-Bari are available by October 26 2009. These flights are operated with new delivered ATR72/500s and they are in competition with Carpatair services in launch by Oct 1 2009 but not in clash such as days of operations.

Air Arabia Maroc opens soon Bologna and Treviso. No plans to go Rome

Two new gateways in Italy probably should be open with winter schedule 2009/10. Budget carrier Air Arabia Maroc push and expands network in Northern Italy, Bologna and Treviso are the predicted ones as new port of calls. The airline representative in Italy, Discover of the World have mentioned these airports in an invitation message issued due to the closest participation to No Frills travel trade market exhibition.

Air Arabia Maroc in the meantime have postponed the future opening of regular services to Rome FCO. The new flight uploaded on the carrier booking engine soem months ago are now wholly disappeared. Call centers reports that Rome plans for new operations are currently suspended.

Iceland Express will doubles in Italy by summer 2010. New services to Bergamo

Bergamo will get the opportunity to be linked non stop with Iceland in summer 2010. Paper airline Iceland Express that works on budget fares segment will open by Jubne 5 2010 every saturdays a weekly flight Bergamo-Keflavik operated by Astraeus. Its a seasonal route and it will stop at end of August 2010.

Iceland Express is landed in Italy in this summer season with a three months weekly service to Bologna and confirmed also in 2010.

TAROM drops Bologna

Last flight on Bologna-Cluj route is planned on October 16 2009. The Romanian flag carrier have decided without notice to change plans for winter time schedule 2009/10 and to give up the route. Currently is operated three times a week on monday, wednesday and fridays with Boeing B737/700s.

Wizz launch in 2010 Forlì-Sofia

Three times a week by May 22 2010 is the new schedule of Forlì-Sofia. The new route is operated on tuesdays, thrusdays, saturdays with 180 seater A320s.

Meridiana Maintenance now is open! New MROs asset

Meridiana, Eurofly and Iberia launch Meridiana Maintenance. Its a new MROs that will offer engineering serivces on a large size of planes where the company will obtain certifications (CAMO and Part 145) on capabilities at this time already available with know how matured by the engineering service of Meridiana that with this new co0mpany is wholly autonomous. If today they produce about 40 million € as turn around in 2012 they are confindet to have 50 million €.

This is a result obtained from mergership between the Meridiana and Eurofly technical departments. Today the workforce is composed by 320 peoples and in future they'll be 464. Two more hangers will be added at the today 2 in operations. 8 bays are planned to be available and one of them used for spraying. 15000sqm is the surface available in future and the investments will join the value of 15 million €.

Ryanair launch bases in Bari & Brindisi

This morning at Bari, Ryanair and Aeroporti di Puglia has announced the new bases opening with effect 2010. 9 new routes from Bari are available with 2 planes in overnight. Brindisi will have one plane permanently based.

Ryanair’s 9 new routes from Bari to Brussels (Charleroi), Cagliari, Dusseldorf (Weeze), Genoa, Karlsruhe – Baden Baden, Paris (Beauvais), Trapani, Treviso and Valencia, which begin from 14th January, will increase Ryanair’s traffic at Bari to 1.2m passengers p.a. and sustain 1,200 jobs at Bari Airport.
 
Ryanair’s four new routes from Brindisi to Barcelona (Girona), Eindhoven, Trapani and Treviso will begin from 4th February and increase Ryanair’s traffic at Brindisi to 650,000 passengers p.a. which will sustain 650 local jobs.
 
Michael Cawley, deputy CEO said  “Ryanair is delighted to announce two new bases at Bari and Brindisi which will deliver nine new routes to/from Bari in January and four new routes to/from Brindisi in February in a total investment worth $210m.
 
Ryanair’s Bari base will deliver 1.2million passengers p.a. and sustain 1,200 local jobs while our Brindisi base will deliver 650,000 passengers p.a. and sustain 650 local jobs.
 
To celebrate our 35th and 36th bases at Bari and Brindisi and our 13 new routes, which go on sale from tomorrow, we are launching 1 million €1 seats for travel in October and November on over 500 Ryanair routes throughout Europe.”
