The Italian Civil Aviation Authority two days ago has announced that its Directorate of Rome Fiumicino Airport has issued three administrative penalties to the budget airline Easyjet, totaling 110 thousand euros, for inefficiency related to delays and cancellations of flights from Rome Fiumicino airport at Lamezia Terme that have occurred in recent days.
In particular, complaints concerning infringements of the Community Regulation 261, 2004, or for failure to provide information to passengers, no compensation and no assistance.
ENAC President Vito Riggio said: "The Civil Aviation Authority will not tolerate from any airline cancellations, long delays and denied boarding due to the carrier. We provide sanctions for all airlines for any failure to respect the rights of passengers, as required by legislation.
The regional carrier Air Alps is on the way to return in the hands of an Austrian company. Welcome Air si reported to have bought share for 76% of stake capital in Air Alps. This is the last act of a troubled story that has seen Air Alps to change diverse ownership. No change is applied on flight numbers, the same one used by old Alitalia. In the past Alitalia has operated the route mainly from Milan Malpensa until the route was moved to Rome with new hub positioning.

Vienna and Malaga are reported the next destinations in opening from Rome FCO during summer season 2010. Daily is planned the flight to Malaga and twice a day the service to Vienna. These are routes previously operated by the old Alitalia and ever resumed by Compagnia Aerea Italiana.
Last flight on that route is Feb 21 2010. EasyJet have decided to give up these flights wthout press notice. So, they aren't older, the start up was made recently and booking shows low fares at all times, the yield surely is not in line with airline expectations.
Comes
out today, the new TV spot for Alitalia which has as protagonists the
actor Raul Bova and his wife Chiara Giordano, respectively, in the roles of
a passenger and a flight attendant.
After
the first commercial broadcast last May, which evoke the historical value of
the Alitalia brand, the new campaign, with two spots of 30 and 15 seconds,
look to the product and novelty of the present.
To
tie the two campaigns with the same sound track music: the song "Only You" made in the past by ThePlatters and the icon of a famous Italian character, Raoul Bova,
picture, while climbing the stairs of an Alitalia plane.
The
protagonist of the spot, besides the actor Raoul Bova, is the class
Magnifica - Alitalia's business class - of which the in flight service is renovated in
partnership with several major Italian brands, will be one of the
strengths of the company: new lie-flat seats, a new
catering signed by Italian chefs who reinterpret traditional regional dishes, the best Italian wines selected by the Italian Sommelier,
blankets and pillows, Frette, china, cutlery and glasses of Richard
Ginori.
While representing
Alitalia's is the flight attendants figure, played by Chiara Giordano, Raoul
Bova's wife in reality, which communicates with professionalism and at the
same time with a sudden "family" Italian values of courtesy and
customer care.
In
the 30 seconds a joke with the nearby fellow seat summarizes the experience of
space when travelling in Magnifica Class:" You know why I like to travel with

This is the third time that Alitalia will schedule the route to Los Angeles.
A bunch of new routes is in the plannings of famous budget carrier EasyJet in coming summer 2010. Mostly of them are leisure service, but part are also all year round legs.

Thanks
to code share signed with Swiss airline Baboo, Alitalia increasing the seating offer
to and from Switzerland with an additional 30 weekly frequencies. Rome-Geneva route goes from two to four flights a day (except Saturday and Sunday when there will be three daily flights). Also
in the agreement with Baboo, Alitalia will connect Geneva with both
Milan Malpensa and Venice (with 6 flights per week each), Naples
and Florence (with three flights per week each). The codeshare will also apply to the connections Dublin - Marseille (6 weekly frequencies) and Venice - Nice (weekly). From December 7, in addition, Air One flights between Milan Linate Airport
and London City will also enable the codeshare agreement with Air
France, which adds this connection with its offer. These are operated with two frequencies per day from Monday to Friday and Sunday.
The presence on the Italian market of Estonian Air in 2010 is limited to seasonal flights only. They has confirmed to fly to Milan MXP and Rome FCO but only between May and September.
Milan Malpensa will be served by a weekly flight from May 8 to September 25 2010 every saturdays and from June 1 to Aug 24 on tuesdays.
All flights are operated with Canadair CRJ900s.
Rome FCO will get a weekly flight on tuesdays from June 15 to Aug. 24 with B737/300s.
The summer season 2010 will face one of the most important for Air Berlin in Italy. They has uploaded new flights and increases on existent routes.

US Airways to Offer New Nonstop Flight to Rome from Charlotte Hub
New Daily Service to the Italian Capital from the Airline’s Largest Hub Begins in May 2010
US Airways (NYSE: LCC) customers will have more ways to experience “la dolce vita” when the airline begins daily, year-round nonstop service to Rome from Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 13, 2010.
The new flight will complement US Airways’ daily nonstop service to Rome from Philadelphia, the airline’s international gateway. It will be operated with Airbus A330-300 aircraft with seating for 29 in Envoy, US Airways’ trans-Atlantic business class, and 259 in the main cabin.
US Airways Senior Vice President, Airport Customer Service, International and Cargo Operations Suzanne Boda said, “Rome is one of US Airways’ most popular European destinations. Our new service from Charlotte will offer our customers throughout the southeastern United States another convenient option for traveling to the Eternal City.”
US Airways currently offers nonstop service from its Charlotte hub to London’s Gatwick Airport, Frankfurt International Airport and Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport and also codeshares with Star Alliance carrier Lufthansa on Munich service from Charlotte.
On Dec. 15, the airline will begin its first-ever service to South America from Charlotte with daily nonstop flights to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Alitalia
and Aeroflot signed today a Memorandum of Understanding on the
sidelines of the official meeting between the President of Russia Dmitry
Medvedev and President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian
Republic Silvio Berlusconi.
The document reflects the intention of both companies to develop the existing bilateral agreements and existing cooperation.
The
goal is to develop new routes and frequencies between Italy and Russia
and to create a wide range of codesharing agreements on domestic
destinations, international and intercontinental (routes operated by
Alitalia to Africa, Middle East and Latin America could include the code share of Aeroflot while the latter links to Asia could include the code of Alitalia). These developments allow Alitalia and Aeroflot to strengthen their presence in their respective markets.
Alitalia
and Aeroflot means therefore cooperate more closely in the planning of
routes between Russia and Italy, the establishment of joint procedures
of reservation, in order to increase the interconnection between their
networks, the definition of joint strategies for promoting and selling in order to increase the flow of business and leisure passengers between the two countries.
The
two companies intend to expand the mutual access to their loyalty
programs, and harmonize standards for quality of service for the
benefit of customers, regardless of the carrier operating the route.
Alitalia
and Aeroflot are planning collaborations in the areas of information
technology, charter and cargo, as well as in other areas of activity of
the two groups.
Alitalia
and Aeroflot to establish governance arrangements designed to work more
closely and effectively with the aim of rapidly achieving positive
results for companies and their customers.
Alitalia
and Aeroflot have a long lasting cooperation based on bilateral
agreements such as codesharing, interline agreements, agreements
interline e-ticketing and are both key members of the SkyTeam alliance.
Currently Alitalia and Aeroflot offer codeshare flights between Moscow and Rome, Milan, Venice and Turin.
Signing
the Memorandum of Understanding inaugurates a new era in the
development of commercial cooperation between the two carriers and
contributes significantly to the advancement of relations between Italy
and Russia.
