They are facing legal developments in the story ENAC-Ryanair. ENAC-Italian Civil Aviation Authority
president Vito Riggio, in addition to the mandate given to the lawyer Grazia Volo, has instructed the General Directorate of Civil Aviation to
evaluate, in agreement with the Office of Solicitor of the State,
to act through a complaint against Michael O'Leary,
Ryanair's CEO, it will also be aaking a damages claim for the contents of the
statements which harm the reputation, dignity and image of the Italian
Civil Aviation Authority chairman, for their actions and what their employees. Any
eventual amount that comes from this damage claim compliant will be donated by ENAC for charitable
organizations and, in particular, associations and committees that
bring together the families of victims of aircraft accidents
Cimber Air, the danish budget airline will increase services on the route Rome FCO-Copenhagen to twice a day with summer schedule 2010.
Meridiana will apply baggage fees on booking to all passenger that buys tickest at WEB cheapest fare only on international flights. Its effective for flights operated by March 15 2010. The rate applied is 10€/piece one way. Meridiana is still apply the same on domestic flights only on WEB fare code at 7€/piece one way.
In the press conference held at Catania while Air Malta have presented the new route Catania-Frankfurt, they has released that the route Catania-London will end soon with effect summer timetable 2010 due to the unprofitable rate ofn exchange between Pound versus Euro. Air Malta has lifted two million passengers from Catania sice the first flight had many years ago. Recently they has expanded the network with the addition of new routes to Munich that has showed interesting figures and Munich-Geneva. They'll consider terminated the temptative to fly weekly towards Casablanca.
The summer timetable 2010 will have no flights on Rome FCO-Milan MXP operated by Lufthansa Italia. Less than one year from the start up these flights will be given up. It sounds that load factors are not meeting the expectations. Since the bieginning it clear that Lufthansa Italia lacks of fully booked planes except the peaks.
Today in Milan has been introduced the new entry of Ryanair in Italy! Its 'Melisa Corrigan, Italian-Irish destined to fill the new role of sales and marketing in Italy. The new company position was officially presented in Milan at the same press conference where this morning Michael O'Leary in Milan have described the picture about Italy traffic and news for Ryanair. She has the competence over 10 bases and 23 airports in Italy
(plus four in talks, top secret), where Ryanair aims to handle 22
million passengers in 2010, compared to the 20 lifted last year. The
manager has also released its first declaration, "In Italy we see a
consolidation of traffic in all Italian airports, for an average of 2%
in 2009 and against growth of 13% of Ryanair," said the young manager. In
his presentation focusing on airport charges "that amount to three
euros between Malpensa, Linate and Fiunicino while in several European
airports, it was decided to cut them, for example in Holland and
Belgium, while in Greece and Spain have lowered the 100%. "
Two new planes will have base in Bergamo soon by summer 2009. Bergamo will become one of the largest bases of Ryanair in Europe with 12 ships based permanently and in overnight stays. Three new routes are expected to open by summer schedule, Marrakech, Wroclaw and Poznan. The alter aego of EasyJet the competitor with a large base at Milan Malpensa is ready to fight and catch the cake on the table.
22 million passengers carried in 2010, this is the estimated figures planned for the operations to Italy. In 2009 they has lifted about 20 million passengers. Its now enough longest the list of seasonal routes operated in 2009 not confirmed in the coming season 2010. Ryanair has not uploaded on booking engine several flights probably that has not produced the estimated financial profits. These are the routes yet at the moment whithout confirm:

Meridiana and Virgin Atlantic signs a new partnership thnks to the flights from Florence to London Gatwick where they'll make easy the connections to US, Jamaica, Barbados and Cuba. The new deal will be announced on coming thursday the 28th 2010 at Florence in a press conference to the trade at Una Hotel Vittoria.
SAME Italy the marketing and trade arm of Meridiana will show the new opportunities to the trade.
The island of Ibiza is an attractive point for leisurers along the spring/summer. Two new routes today are announced by Ryanair from Italy in origin from Treviso and Turin. They're operated three times a week. Turin on wednesdays/thursdays/sundays. Treviso is not yet known how many flights a week are available.
Its the new seasonal available between Bologna and Lampedusa, the southernmost Italian landscape. The new flight is seasonal every satudays operated with an Eurofly A320s. The route is seasonal and the last flight is scheduled on Oct 2 2010.

The Romanian budget airline will add new services from Bucarest Baneasa to Florence on five times a week from monday to friday by March 29 2010. The new route is operated with 33 seater Saab SF340s.
New expansion is planned for Ryanair base at Pisa. New 7th. plane is scheduled to be based by March 29 2010. Five new routes are planned to commence: Madrid (3xweek), Fez (2xweek), Gothemburg Saeve (3xweek), Santander (3xweek), Reus (3xweek). The new jet liner is also the way to increase services on existing routes to Billund, Alghero, Marrakech, Girona, Cagliari, Trapani.
Belle Air, the leading busget carrier of Albania is on the way to set up a new carrier in Italy with own AOC. The new airline will have key base at Ancona and one A7R72/500s is planned as first airplane of the asset.
The business case will focus the operations towards new flights from Ancona to Skopje, Pristina, Split, Bergamo.
In future if business will go positive new turboprop or A319s will fly also on the routes to Albania.
