Intersky DHC8/300s hit electrical power line
Yesterday an Intersky de Havilland Dash 8-300,
registration OE-LSB operating flight number 3L284 from Zurich (Switzerland)
to Elba (Italy) has severely hit a power line just north to the field and few seconds from landing. The liner with 48 passengers and 3 crew. In the final aproach to the airport of Elba - Marina di Campo, the contact with electrical power line has damaged the right engine propeller. The landing was safe The landing was safe on runway 16 at about 17:30L (15:30Z) after that pilot was able to recover the plane.
949x23 meters is the runway lenght and its enough to a DHC8/Q300s. Intersky is in seasonal operation to Elba for about a decade. The island is extremely enjoyed from Swiss, Germans and Austrians. Usually these flights are on saturdays and wednesdays until October. The pilot flying is reported with several decade of experience. The airport authorities reported severe damages to the 15KV power line that has left many inhabitants without electricity for several hours.
