Alitalia awarded as best airline in the world for the quality of the inflight meals.

December 2, 2010 - Alitalia has received the award for "Best Airline
Cuisine" as the best airline in the world for the quality of meals
served on board. The award was
conferred by the American monthly magazine Global Traveler for 7 years
that promotes, in collaboration with the accounting firm Citrin
Cooperman, a research excellence in the travel and tourism.
There
were over 25,000 frequent flyers who participated in the research "GT
Tested Awards 2010 Reader Survey, sponsored by Global Traveler
This
award recognizes the efforts in the renewal of the Alitalia flight
service and catering in Magnifica Class - Business Class on long-haul
flights - which began last year. This
project involves the development of the culinary excellence of our
country on board an Alitalia aircraft, from the menu offered in
Magnifica class that allow you to taste the best traditional Italian
regional cuisine with materials to provide the service on board
(cutlery glassware, pottery, blankets and pillows) produced by large companies of the Made in Italy.
After
offering menus from Abruzzo, Veneto, Tuscany, Lazio and Puglia, in
recent weeks have served on board new menus that include regional
dishes and wines of Sicily (in flights from Italy to other countries)
and Marche (for flights to Italy from
abroad) including, for example, "Rolled swordfish with capers from
Pantelleria IGP", the "Pizza Cheese", the "Verdicchio dei Castelli di

project to bring on board aircraft and food and wine products made in
Italy is the basis also of the relaunch of the class "Ottima", Alitalia's
business class on flights of medium range which now offers local
products of high quality Italian cuisine . The same project will be progressively extended to the "Classic", the Economy Class on Alitalia's long-haul flights.
