Kenya Airways is happy to fly to Italy about one year after that services between Rome and Nairobi were resumed. No history records are in the yhands of the airline due to the flights were ceased up to 10 years before. Eugenio Ragusa - airline Italy's director - the feedback is positive and load factor is around 75% with peaks of more than 90% in the top season. These figures make strong the links between Italy and Kenya and also to the connected destinations available from Nairobi. Part of the demand asks a stopover in Nairobi for few days and than to continue to Zanizbar or Seychelles. Several tour operators enjoys it.

Massimo Polimeni is the today Windjet Senior V.P. Marketing Sales. He was free to leave us an interview about the soon newcoming land to Bologna of the most important Italian low cost airline based in Southern Italy at Catania They'll fly twice a day from Catania and new opportunities could be revealed soon along the winter time.
1. After Rimini and Parma, Windjet lands to Bologna with two flights a day! Why?
The destination Bologna is growing on the heading to Catania. Its an important traffic market and we intend to develop thru the an offer with typical low cost pricing approach Usually where we launched a new rote we got interesting trafic increases.
2. Hows was important the decision to stop Forlì on Bologna opening?
There are no relation with the catchment areas. We moved of some tens of Kms from Forlì to Rimini, going to guard the true leisure destination on Adriatic shore, that essentially is holidays only. On Emilia and in the specific to Bologna we will lift a traffic substantially composed by business/work
3. Does not believe that two flights a day are too many, offering 360 passengers a day on each route is already on same routing of Alitalia and Meridiana fly (it will cease services October 3)?
Meridianafly strongly divested in Bologna (-24% of seats offered in the first seven months of the year). But regardless of this, as I said before, WindJet is able to rapidly develop traffic thanks to its tariff system. In fact, there are no low-cost airlines that operate on that route.
4. What kind of customer Windjet is looking in Bologna?
By our very nature we turn to the mass market. Normally
our traffic is transverse: With us fly a little bit of alls: from tourists
to the professional, the student and a company manager.
5. How many passengers that Windjet estimates to load at Bologna?
Our goal is to reach after a start-up period we estimate that in 6 months, on average 73-74% load factors.
6. What will be important in the catchment area of Bologna for Windjet?
Its very important as part of our strategy in controlling the destination Emilia-Romagna, where we will fly to three airports.
7. Do you have found a valuable partner in SAB?
They were very happy with our choice. Assessing the value of their professional management and the resources used, we are sure we will do a good job together.
8. Only Catania, or do you think Windjet from Bologna will serve other destinations? only domestic or abroad?
is a project to widen the portfolio of destinations, but this will be
discussed next year, but not before the enlargement of the fleet.
9. Can you give us a picture of Windjet?
Its a company built on the typical "low-cost" industrial model. Founded in June 2003 has seen a steady growth of traffic and fleet. This year it is estimated to increase to nearly 3 million passengers. The fleet comprises 12 aircraft, all Airbus, of which 8 A320s and 4 A319s. 27 destinations including 13 in Italy and 14 in Europe. Main base in Catania, Palermo is the second base, 550 employees. Leader
for the number of destinations in Italy (6) and Russia (3) for routes
between Italy and Russia where we started flying in 2006 when the
bilateral agreement between the two countries has been expanded allowing
operations to other carriers outside the so-called flag carriers. Leader in traffic to / from Sicily, where it has a market share of around 30%. It
belongs to a group of the holding company, "Finaria" that controls are highly
diversified companies: a chain of luxury hotels, a chain of
hard-discount supermarkets, a farm, the football team of Catania, one
logistics company and other smallest companies.
