Silver Air will give up services to Elba. Flights resume in May 2013
Silver Air represented by exclusive GSA Cityline Swiss lead by Dina Peverelli will stop flights to Elba Island on next Sept 3rd with last service to Milan Malpensa. No PSO flights will be operated to Pisa or Florence as planned by bids issued by Regione Toscana due to thwey don't meet any operational and positive response from local communities of Elba Island. In fact the last bid for routes with public subsidies planned to have the liner (a 17 seater Let410s) based at Pisa and not in the island. Services also were planned from monday to friday and no chance to fly in the weekends when leisure short breaks can be arranged. Disappointments comes from the island due to the stop of flights now is not very good for tourism which in Elba stops at end of October when also Skywork and Intersky flights to Germany and Swiss are planned to be ceased and resumed next year at end of March. Silver Air carried between mid June until now at least 1100 passengers from Milan Mxp, flyers are usually owners of summer properties in the island. Silver Air is already now in planning the next summer season 2013 with hopefully flights to Milan Mxp and Pisa as from next May. Pisa is reported an important gateway for passengers swap with final destination Elba. Pisa is a gateway with several destinations and passengers can be intercepted thanks to this factor. Silver Air offers also sightseeing flight over the Tuscan archipelago with an interesting promotional fare and daytrips to Bastia in Corsica.
