Why do I love the Haslital Valley ? Fresh air ? Clean water ? Impressive View ? Axalp ?
Hmm - I think all of the above - and don't be afraid when one of the local Hornets looks a bit grim on you ...
The Hornet does not bite people - it just wanna play against some Tigers
On 23rd of June it was again time for the very popular base visit - organized by the Tourist Office of Meiringen and the Swiss Air Force. During those visits you can see the new movie about the military Airbase Meiringen-Unterbach, watching a demonstration of the Guard dogs and visit the different parts of this very modern base in the middle of the alps. Repair hall, parachute shop, Fire Brigade - nearly everything you can see from near. And of course the aircrafts !
This time I made mainly Video - but first of all one of my morning pictures - available also in BIG
The game during Base visit in the afternoon was called 'Hands up' - first with one to greet the photographer-group on the QRA-Shelter

And some seconds later with both hands up - not a bank robbery I hope

For the answer I would say - watch the video
... but be sure to Fasten your seat belts, please!
Yes, again it was also possible to make a video - for infos and pictures you can look here
Have fun !
Yes, I should have known that smuggling a bottle in an aircraft is forbidden .... this was clear when I looked out of the window ...
.
No - of course it was only an exercise in between the Beech 1900D and three Hornets, one of them filming the Live Ident over the Alps !!! But I have to say, I can imaging the scary feeling of a normal passenger - looking out to see a Hornet on the wingtip !
Please follow my Lead !

But our Pilots didn't react at first - the Hornet-driver had to show his teeth
- available in BIG

Of course our pilots knows what time it is - time to react and follow the Hornet. Also in BIG !

And we turn in to LSMP for the Landing. Thanks to the involved personal for the flight - I like playing the bad guy

June 1940 in World War II - the Wehrmacht begins with the invasion of France. In more than 200 scrambles inbetween 01st and 10th of june 1940, Swiss Air Force Pilots downed 11 Nazi fighters over the Jura mountains (western area of Switzerland inbetween Basel, Biel/Bienne and Geneva). But three of our pilots lost also their lives during those combats.
After 60 years it was time for a small ceremony on the highest peak of the Jura Mountains - on the Chasseral ! With a normally great view 'till the swiss and french alps this time- we where in the clouds. But no problem for the pilots - let's have a look how the weather really is

Now to the ceremony. To the about 100 peoples - containing military personnel, politicians and veterans - a new Memorial-Stone was presented after some speeches and Swiss Army Musicians. During Apero in the much warmer Restaurant nearby the Highlight arrived:

After some nice fly-byes in formation - the PC-21 and the Morane of Eric Chardonnens showed a very nice solo-demo each
