This week has been all change on AirSpace, first with the
changes to the the photos page and now with the addition of a new
This area allows you to download different content, from
podcasts (a selection of which we have started with) to hopefully in the near
future screensavers and other such elements.
If you have any ideas of what you would like to see in this
area, please let me know
Firstly a Happy New Year to all! This is an exciting time for AirSpace and i am really glad that you are all with us!
We have made some exciting changes to the photos page on AirSpace (after taking some of your views on board), which now showcase more of the latest and most popular content that is uploaded to AirSpace. Rather than having a list of the latest galleries uploaded, we now have yor own gallery pictures on top, followed by boxes highlighting:
- The most recent pictures
- The highest rated
- The most commented
- The most viewed
These additions will i hope highlight the great variety of photos we have and also increase the importance of rating and commenting on photos, as the best pictures will be emphasised on that page.
This is only the first step in improving the photos area, we also hope to soon improve the method of uploading pictures (to allow multiple pictures to be uploaded/tagged at once).
If you have any comments on the improvements, or suggestions for future improvements, please do not hesitate to comment or contact me directly.
P.S It is quite illuminating that the most viewed pictures at the moment are all Ryanair calendar girl
We thought over the Christmas period we would get a little competition crazy, so we have the caption competition, which i am sure many of you have already seen, and from today we have an aircraft recogntion competition!!!
Basically we have cunningly edited twenty aircraft so you can only see a part of it, and given you a wonderful list of forty aircraft that you have to try and match the images with. It is harder than you think so give it a go and you could win £100 (GBP).
Who said that Flightglobal wasn't genorous
So after much deliberation (and the occasional argument thrown in for good measure), the winner of this year's flight competition has been decided.
The team really have been impressed by the standard of entries, with the overall winner being boxer 03 (from the Power and Glory category):
This photo is the front cover of this week's (11th December) editition of Flight International magazine. As well as this, boxer 03 will receive £100 (GBP) and a framed copy of the magazine. The category winners can all be seen here and they all feature in the magazine too.
A big thanks to all the entrants and get ready for the return of this competition next year. In the meantime, please let us know any suggestions you may have.
* Here are the category winners:
After over 230 entries and three months of feverish activity, the Flight International front cover competition came to an end today. We have been really impressed by the overall standard of the pictures received, especially with this being the first year we have done something like this.
Over the next few days a select panel of judges will look at all the photos and make a judgement on each category winner and an overall winner, which you will see in next week's Flight International Magazine.
The judges include our picture specialist Paul Gladman, Flight International's Editor and Deputy Editor Murdo Morrison and Max Kingsley-Jones and Flightglobal's Editor Michael Targett.
We will also feature all the results on AirSpace so keep checking in and also keep uploading your favourite images to your own indivudual galleries. If you have any comments on the competition and how it can be improved next time, please let me know.
Okay okay so it maybe a little early but we thought we would get a little festive and create a gallery for all you lovers of snow and the festive period. We have created a gallery for you to upload your favourite winter-inspired images, with the best festive snaps possibly being used for the Uncle Rodger quiz in the festive (18th December) edition of Flight International.
In making AirSpace easier to use we are soon planning to make some adjustments to the photos page and also the method of uploading photos.
In terms of the photos page, we are hoping to change the photos page into a series of boxes which highlight the latest pictures, the highest rated pictures, the most commented on pictures etc.
In terms of uploading, we want to make it more like uploading to say Flickr, making it easier for you to upload multiple pictures at once and allow you to post them into mulitple galleries.
What would be useful is any comments/ suggestions from you guys about how you would like to improve things. Either comment on this blog or feel free to email me.
