Hello John,

I was passing trough my favourite "Monday morning coffee news" (above) when I were frozen from your entry:

"B735 D-ABIZ (25244) left Frankfurt on 26/7 en route to Gary, IN for scrapping."

Have you any information on that LH decision? I didn't read any information recently on LH's 733/735 fleet (since they moved it into FRA). They were planning to retrim the interiors with new seats (as for the A320s) and new bins, and that's an expensive move that normally is not made if don't think to keep the aircraft at least 4-5 more years....

I know that that fleet is late-'80s.

Have you any info on LH 737 strategy?

Thanks and regards

Found more news, but still the reason is missing... (the 733 are older, but of course the 735 and new E195 have similar capacity)

It seems that a total of seven 735 are planned for scrap by the end of 2011.

Quote:

"Joint Venture to acquire Seven (7) B737-530 Aircraft

June 6, 2011

Classic 500 LLC (Automatic – Orlando, FL/AeroDirect – Chicago, IL joint venture) contracted with Lufthansa German Airlines to purchase seven (7) B737-530 aircraft equipped with CFM56-3B1/-3C1 engines. The aircraft will be delivered in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2011. Classic 500 LLC will process the equipment and offer the aircraft and engines for sale or lease as well as the material generated from airframe and engine tear downs."

Hello John,

I've updates! It seems that D-ABIZ was not the first one! (probably it was the second!)

I see from the website of Classic 500 LLC (the scrapper)they claim to have acquired frame number D-ABJC (25272), wfu on 17/6 and ferried FRA-KEF-GYY-GYR on 04/7.
