Today, with the last flight between MXP and FCO, ends the MD80 career in Alitalia fleet. After 29 years (the first "Mad Dog" entered in service with AZ  in 1983) the legendary “ottantone”  (Italian nickname for MD80) leaves  the fleet of Alitalia.

The age and especially the excessive fuel consumption have led to their replacement with new Airbus family aircraft  (A319, A320 and A321), more modern, more efficient, but perhaps less fascinating.

Ciao Mad Dog!
