As many JP followers will appreciate, JP Airline Fleets has grown consistently over the years and this has arisen for a number of reasons.
The Introduction of last years edition highlighted the problem and this year we are looking at taking steps to keep pagination within the desired brackets whilst we build on coverage and quality.
One course of action is to concentrate on specific aircraft on the basis of weight. We are exploring this option with a view to removing fixed wing light twins below 2,800kg and singles below 2,000kg. This has the advantage of allowing us to focus more specifically on our core business and provide content that reflects the title more accurately.
We are currently in the process of merging two vast databases having acquired Ascend Worldwide in June last year. This development enables us to access a wealth of data and enhance the 2012/13 edition further still.
Our key objective is to keep JP accurate, relevant and a trusted source for the aviation community. Consequently, we would welcome your feedback.
Thanks for your reply. So am i to understand that based on the previous post that since the Buchair NYC store is closed till after 7/4/12 that the book will not arrive until the 2nd week of July?
I believe the NY store will re-open on 2nd July and I anticipate they will fulfill their backlog orders at the earliest opportunity.
Hope that helps.
So based on what you have told me if i mite not get the book till late next week?
and how long do i give it till i email you folks?
I have still not recieved my book yet. I have been about two weeks and I would like to have some help from your customer service department
Who can I get in contact with in order to help me with my issue
I have just spoken with our distributors here in the UK and they will be contacting you directly on speaking with staff in the NY store.
If you do not receive a confirmation by close today please drop me a line.
There are several MISTAKES AND OMISSIONS over the years, despite that I have called your attention to them one or more years ago:
Russian State Transport (p.488):
Presidential IL-96s have not CONFIGURATION "Y280" !
Contents - last page (p.684):
- missing country markings of those countries having no entry in the main section (like Gibraltar etc.),
- missing multiple country markings, like PP/PR/PT, XA/XB/XC, B-H/K/L and ESPECIALLY I miss "VQ-B" = Bermuda marking !
- during the years, whole editors team was unable to MERGE TWO LISTS OF LEASING COMPANY DESIGNATORS !! :
Original list from BuchAir team is on p. 685, listed by 4-letter-abbrev.,
while another list in BIGGER letters, listed WRONGLY by company names, is on p. 686
(so the title is WRONG, as companies are not DECODED, they are ENCODED on p. 686).
Daimler Chrysler Av. has its own entry on p. 115, but one A319CJ op. by them is listed under Gov't/Corp/Exec/VIP heading on p. 109 !
"Our key objective is to keep JP accurate, relevant and a trusted source for the aviation community."
Despite this key objective BRITISH editorial team FOR ALL YEARS, when responsible for contents of JP Airline fleets, introduces new and new MISTAKES INTO DATABASE. Of course, such really world-wide database could never be absolutely accurate. Some new aircraft could be mistakenly affixed, change of operator of such an old aircraft omitted etc. That is normal.
What gets me excited are absolutely unnecessary mistakes made by man-made corrections of data, which were ABSOLUTELY PERFECT in previous issues. Than it takes 1 or 3 years before editorial staff victoriously deletes this mistake.
Like outlasting Y280 seating in Russian presidential IL-96s!
Italian low-cost carrier Air One was listed in JP until 2008/09.
Although change of shareholder, it still operates under this name with A320s in full Air One colours.
Probably editors are juridical-purists and consider Air One as part of Alitalia. Air One aircraft are listed under Alitalia heading.
NO REMARK, THAT THEY OPERATE IN FULL AIR ONE cs for this low-cost subsidiary.
Configuration is wrongly shown as "CY159", while real configuration for all 10 A320s operated by Air One is Y180 !!!
Every day when I use new JP I found new wrong entries which were correct entries in older edition !
Thank you for the feedback Petr.
As you will appreciate, producing a publication of this size is a major undertaking. We strive to make it as accurate as possible.
Regarding multiple country designations, we reflect in the contents page what appears on the country page to be consistent. We could look to incorporate multiple codes on the final page. However, as it is a content page we don't include codes for data that doesn't exist in the book as clearly it will not have a corresponding page number.
The leasing company designators were originally created by BuchAir. As there were more leasing firms than those listed we chose to incorporate them in a look-up for sake of completeness. We can re-work the text or amend the title accordingly. The pre-press process does impose some limitations on how we can display data, but we will take a position on what/how we supply leasing data in future editions.
The Air One seating configuration has been updated as per the Alitalia website: http://corporate.alitalia.it/en/group/fleet/a320AP.htm which we will seek further clarification on from the operator.
We will of course make any further necessary changes, such as potentially splitting Air One from Alitalia.
I hope you find this useful and will welcome your posts/contribution.
