A big welcome to all AirSpace users - please say hello!

I thought it would be good idea to create an area where new and regular users alike can introduce themselves to everybody. As we are over 1,000 strong now, i thought i would say hello and introduce myself a little (and hope some of you will too Stick out tongue).

I am Maverick and i look after the site. I will let you know of any developments on the site and aim to answer any questions you may have.

I am 25 and although not directly experienced within the industry i have well and truly gained the aviation bug! I am  interested in the more trivial and humorous stories coming out from the world of aviation (usually from Ryanair Geeked) but i also like to read about the classical aircraft such as the Vulcan...

Away from aviation i enjoy sport (football, Tennis, Rugby), tea, travel and Skittles as i enjoy to taste the rainbow!!!

Young, white male seeks dark and brooding female for fun, games and experimentation.....

Oh, wait a minute.  Wrong website - sorry everybody!  Embarrassed

I'm Titch, one of the moderators here at AirSpace.  Been an enthusiast since an early age, into photography and mileage runs - it's a great way to cure my phobia of being stuck at 30,000ft in an aluminum tube with 200 strangers.

I'm a researcher by day (so, theoretically, I should get to hear about all the industry news first) and a semi-pro musician by night.  I've got a very dry sense of humour, so if you're easily offended just try to take anything I say with a pinch of salt....  Failing that, don't ever get into a debate with me.  I'm of the firm belief that Lockheed's TriStar was the greatest aircraft ever manufactured (you're either with me on this, or you're not - if you're not, you're wrong).

Civil airliners and accidents are my speciality, so anybody posting anything on these matters is sure to get their thread hijacked by me.

I'm Batfink, I studied Aerospace Engineering at University (Got an HND but failed my degree due to a profound lack of interest in Calculus) and now work for Flight in a research role. This essentially means they pay me to spend the day reading about stuff that I actually find quite interesting - some say I was lucky to get this job, others say it's because I'm awesome but the latter was my Mum so that view probably doesn't count as much.

Although I have a keen interest in aircraft and aviation I'm certainly not the most knowledgeable person in the world and am always looking to learn more, I do however know that the Lockheed L1011 was bloody ugly despite what Titch says. Other hobbies involve being a self-professed nerd, mostly involving watching lots of movies and wearing t-shirts with things like this on them -

I don't really have a favourite aircraft or anything but I firmly believe the De Havilland DH.88 Comet was the coolest looking thing to ever take to the sky.

Hi everyone or as we say in Wales "Shw mae" (how are you?),

I'm Dragon Lady. I'm one of the sites moderator's and also a researcher with Flight.

As you guess by the flag and my forum name I am originally from South Wales. Now living east of Offa's ditch.

Now you're most probably thinking that it's unusual for a lass to be interested in aviation. Well it's all down to my Dad and his enthusiasm towards aircraft. It all started with him taking me to airshows and airports from an early age, and I've never looked back since.

My main interest is with military aircraft, and airshows. Just love anything with afterburners, and any shade of grey.

As no doubt you have seen from my gallery, I like to take photographs. Getting a great shot of an aircraft always gives me a buzz.

My other interests are watching Rugby Union, especially the Ospreys, and of course Wales (well done boys, on the Six Nations Championship and Grand Slam) Party!!!, listening to rock music, and eating chocolate.

So if any of you are out and about at airports, airshows etc. and see a 5ft 8in female with a few Canon camera's around her neck, it'll be me. So you know who to avoid Confused, or more hopefully who to say hello to Big Smile.

    Make it so, number one

Salubrious salutations to one and all!

Helix is currently upgrading academically with an ATPLH and an Aviation degree. Very interested in synthetic vision for helicopter pilots. Interested in all aspects of aviation actually. I look forward to hearing about the latest and greatest as it happens, no matter where.

We may be low and slow, but that's the way to go!

Great idea for an introduction page Maverick,

I'm a British Aerospace Engineer ploughing my way through the aerospace industry; though having once said how much I love airplanes I seem to never see any.

I have designed bits of jet engines with one company, been the technical lead for a team producing Fuel Control Units and High Pressure Fuel Pumps with another and have been the Project Lead for a team producing Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems with a third. I am now out doing the consulting thing (OK, you got me, I've sold out to go contracting) and I'm based in France being paid by Americans to sign-off Thrust Reversers as they are ready to leave the supplier's factory. Oh and I get to give the supplier a constant hard time about "Quality".

I'm also waiting on the US Government to work out that I'm not a threat to life and liberty so I can go play in the US Aerospace Industry.

Other than that, I'm enjoying having a 5 month old son and I'm looking forward to pursuing a PPL in the US (I went solo after 13hrs during a previous working visit to France - the vocabulary was surprisingly easy and the instructor never screamed, so I took that to be a good thing - but it was just too expensive in Europe to keep going). Oh, and I speak some French.., now..., but that wasn't exactly true when I moved here.... but then I moved here for 6 months and I've been here nearly 3 years.

I'm Paul and I'm an alcoholic  sorry wrong forum Beer

Lets try again, I'm Paul and I'm an aviation photographer Yes

My background is the automotive industry including working for Honda in F1 racing, I took the plunge to go full time snapper in 2001, the money was much better in F1 though!

I now live in Mid Wales in part of the low level tactical training area, this means I get fast jets passing by the farm at 100ft MSD Big Smile

When I don't have a camera or PC to hand, then I can be found playing on the farm and when the weather is good I'm part of a balloon team based in South West Wales where we fly passenger flights.

    Hello peeps!

I'm Chipmunker and lead a mysterious double life. By night i'm an aviation fan and internet addict and by day i edit some dodgy website.

I first got into aviation as a kid - a family friend used to take me to Farnborough and other such events and get me lots of SR-71 goodies (i saw it fly at F'borough one year - loudest thing i ever heard). Then i joined the RAF Cadets at school, did a bit of flying - hence the avatar name, but gave up the military stuff to study Classics at uni and entertain delusions of playing football at a level above my natural ability.

After that it's all internet stuff which I'll save you the details of - apart from a brief fling with tractors which are fun but not as fun as aircraft. Coming up with this idea was my finest tractor hour ... Farmers Weekly Wreckers Yard.

Anyhow - pleasure to be here with you fine people.

Thanks for that.  Gotta be glad everything turned out for the best.

According to our other accident 'guru' on here (that's Batfink to you and me), the aircraft involved was D-ACHI.

    Hello members of AirSpace.

I am from Genk - Belgium - °1956. Since I was a child I became an air enthusiast because every day from Monday - Friday from 09:00/17:00 and some times at night, many nato jets were flying in the sky above Genk when they were exercising at the military shooting range PAMPA. It is located some 20 km north from Genk.

I have seen many F-104's, F-5's, Fiat G-91, Mirage, Buccaneer, Sepecat Jaguar, Phantom II, ... and even the Vulcan, F-111 and B-52. So it is normal that I became  an aviation enthusiast. There is still some activity at the PAMPA range but much less than in the cold war period. These days we can watch A-10, Tornado, Mirage and F-16. Lucky there is our airbase Kleine-Brogel, if they organize a spottersday it is always just a "superb" day!

Since 1974 a weekly reader and later on a subscriber to Flight International. Love to search in aviation history. Photography is an other hobby, so many pictures of aircraft as a result.

I'am a systemmanager by day since 1980 (IBM midrange systems).

I hope you will enjoy my gallery.

Hey Maverick! Thanks for the reply. Well, I've been interested since a child.. I used to live near military bases

and so got to know a lot about aircraft.  Then it naturally turned into photography. Its only recently that ive had the chance (and the lens) to be able to take pictures of half decent quality!!

    Glad you like them!

What is the connection here with the magazine??

    Hi plane spotters !

I'm Vtol. I do not however posess any vertical take off capability ( just incase you were wondering Hmm)

I have however worked in precision engineering and Aersopace manufacture since leaving school which was squillions of years ago. I've worked with Rolls-Royce on the Lift System for the JSF(Hence name and Avatar although it turns out they probably wont use it for that), most RR engine programmes, Martin Baker ejection seats, Goodrich actuation systems and BAE Hawk and Typhoon as a supplier.

I use the site as a source of intelligence for research and because I now have Avgas running through my pipes! ( as well as stella Beer and nicotine/caffeineCoffee)

Can be frequently spotted at Paris and Farnborough melting in a shirt and tie Devil or at various manufacturing events, forums, supply chain workshops looking shifty.

that's ok. everyone's allowed to rate their own stuff. the system only allows you to vote once so the ratings even themselves out after a while.

    Hi,

I'm new to the website and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Nickye, I'm a 28-year-old avionics technician from Finland. I'm one of the few females working in my department at the company that graciously decided to employ me after I graduated from a three-year college program in avionics. I've been working for about two years now, so all in all my aviation history is about five years long. I'm a passionate photographer, even though my picture taking resembles mostly the pecking of a blind chicken... But I'm convinced that even a blind chicken finds a tasty grain (or a proper picture in this case) from time to time.

If there's anything else anyone wants to know, feel free to ask. Smile
