I am not knowledgeable about aviation industry so I got 1 question regarding to the AF A330 crash last week. It is highly appreciated if someone could please help to clarify the question for me :-)
The news reported that the A330 was flying into an extremely dangerous thunderstorm area and it could be one of the reasons to bring the aircraft down. One thing I do not understand is: is there thunderstorm at the very high level in the sky? I think when the aircraft reaches the highest level, there is no cloud surrounding the aircraft and without (dangerous) cloud, there would be no thunderstorm?
