Can anyone inform me whether the Captain on the A320 Air France that crashed in Habsheim, Michel Asseline, at last has been acquitted by the Cour de Cassation (supreme court)? Or is the case still pending?

Dear Igor,

He apparently lost, given that Mr. Michel Asseline appealed to the European Human Rights Court. This court only reviewed whether Asseline was awarded justice accourding to court procedures and he was. The court declared not interfere in the content of a trial, namely whether evidence was unjustly denied. Reading the court's findings it sounds like the defence slipped up some bit, not using all its possibilities to get the ruling of the courts before overturned.

You can read it yourself, see the orginal french text. (can be translated enough by google to get the meaning). http://cmiskp.echr.coe.int/tkp197/viewhbkm.asp?sessionId=52838033&skin=hudoc-en&action=html&table=F69A27FD8FB86142BF01C1166DEA398649&key=81543&highlight

Funny you posted this question. I had the same after seeing the documentary and reading comments on sites. So I thought I'd share what I finally could dig up. To know what Michel Asseline has been doing, please read http://www.crashdehabsheim.net/que%20sont%20il%20devenus.htm (also in French).  Kind regards,
