African carrier Air Namibia has ordered a pair of Airbus A319s to replace its Boeing 737-500s, which are over 20 years old.
The carrier already uses a leased pair of the Airbus type.
It has not identified an engine selection for the new aircraft, but its current A319s are fitted with CFM International CFM56s. No delivery date has been disclosed.
"Our in-service experience has confirmed that the A319 is the ideal aircraft for Air Namibia's regional routes," said Air Namibia acting chief Theo Namases.
Airbus said the aircraft would be configured with 112 seats in a two-class arrangement. Air Namibia's fleet also includes a pair of Airbus A340-300s and smaller regional types.
