Sir Richard makes a fair point. But as someone living near Manchester it is depressing that competition is only ever mentioned in context of London airports and established routes. I travel regularly to India & there is no direct MAN-BOM flight. All options involve a connection. Sadly Jet and Kingfisher chose to join the pack at LHR. There are surely opportunities for carriers with vision to serve new routes without direct competition.
