Mexico and Canada have signed an expanded air services agreement that should allow more direct flights to open in the future. The expanded Canada-Mexico Air Transport Agreement paves the way for more passenger and cargo services between the two countries.Air Canada welcomed the new agreement and said that it would further strengthen links between Canada and Mexico.“Among other things it provides an open framework for direct flights, introduces more commercial flexibility and contains provisions for safety and security,” the airline said in a statement.It however warned that the Canadian government must prioritise boosting travel from Mexico to Canada. The airline said visa requirements for Mexican citizens should be reviewed.
