After 17 years in banking (finance/sales/marketing/customer service/product development)  I am thinking of pursuing a new career in the aviation industry. Also, my academic qualifications are postgraduate studies in Economics & Finance.

Does anyone know if the aviation industry is open to career changers? Does it offer career opportunities?

Hey Thanos, I am currently changing my career. I have more than 10 years in Civil Enginnering as well as SAP consultant. The only problem is, with this crisis the market is closed. I'm finishing my atpl course and will have to wait 2 or 3 more years to become a pilot with a real job. You will have to keep looking! Wish you the best of luck! Ricardo

Greetings from New Zealand. Your question is an interesting one indeed. But it is somewhat open-ended; rather akin to determining how long is a piece of elasic string! What line of work are you interested in? Management, marketing and sales, engineering, air traffic control or perhaps you are interested in pilot training?

Could you pin it down a bit more? And also, what nation are you a citizen of? Cheers.

Hi Thanos.

I  am also trying to make a career change to aviation. My background is in IT/Telecoms with a substancial commercial element

in my recent jobs i.e. Sales/Marketing, Product Management. I am thinking it might be good idea to create an on-going dialogue with others who are also attempting this change and maybe help each other out with ideas and networks. If you or anyone else is interested then please feel free to mail me at

jagtar_r@hotmail.com.

Regards.
