■Aeromar, a major regional airline in Mexico, took delivery of its first of two ATR 72-600 (pictured above) to be acquired on long-term lease from Air Lease Corporation. This makes Aeromar the first operator of the ATR -600 series aircraft in the region.■OAG Cargo, an air cargo data services company and sister company of Air Cargo World, released an updated version of its Inforwarding online portal, which includes a more user-friendly interface, integrated Twitter feed and enhanced language capabilities. Inforwarding is an online service used by hundreds of airlines to post real-time alerts to communicate their latest news and operational updates.■IJS Global, a global logistics company, signed a non-exclusive, strategic partnership agreement with Freight-in-Time, a Kenyan freight organization. The majority of the shipments that IJS Global sends to Kenya travel by air. In addition to Kenya, IJS Global will use this new agreement to also work on service delivery in Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Burundi.■LUG aircargo handling, an independent ground service company at Frankfurt Airport, has signed up Cathay Pacific Airways as a new client. The contract covers up to eight full freighter flights per week. It will go into effect Aug. 1.■Panalpina has become a global member of the Supply Chain Council, a non-profit organization that helps members make improvements across supply chains.■Etihad Cargo has joined the client portfolio of Heavyweight Air Express in Brazil. Etihad Airways has expanded to South America with newly commenced non-stop flights to Sao Paulo.■Air Partner, a provider of freight aircraft charter solutions, has launched a new weekly cargo service from Frankfurt to Sochi, Russia for the 2014 Winter Olympics on the Russian Black Sea coast. Leading up to the Olympics, Air Partner will operate a cargo service using a 747-400F every Monday morning between Nov. 18 and Feb. 7, 2014. Sochi’s relatively remote location means that it is not well served by European airlines, so there is limited airfreight capacity directly from Europe. Air Partner’s new service will fill a gap in the cargo market.■Expeditors opened a facility (pictured right) for temperature-sensitive products at BRUcargo, the dedicated cargo area at Brussels Airport. The new healthcare facility, in partnership with Aviapartner, is more than 16,000 square feet.■DHL has received the Planet Award of Excellence for the first time. Lufthansa Cargo awards the accolade for outstanding cooperation with its most important customers and is part of the Lufthansa Cargo Global Partnership Program, a platform for sustainable growth.■China Airlines signed a contract with Envirotainer, a provider of cold chain logistics services. The agreement allows China Airlines to offer logistical services to clients in the health care market. Envirotainer will provide the airline’s employees with training and operational courses on the different types of active temperature-controlled air cargo containers. ■Lambert-St. Louis International Airport generates approximately US$3.6 billion in annual business revenues for the 16-county St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area based on a new Economic Impact Study. Lambert handled 76,500 tonnes of cargo in 2012. The airport’s study was self-funded.■As part of the celebration of World Environment Day and in order to contribute to the preservation of Easter Island, LAN Airlines delivered more than three tonnes of electronic waste from Easter Island. This includes computers, laptops, keyboards and mice. Electronic waste collected will be recycled at the Chilenter Foundation and converted into new computers to be donated to communities without access to technology.■Volga-Dnepr Airlines has reached an agreement with Paris-Vatry Airport to base its new IL-76TD-90VD freighter (pictured below) at the airport to meet growing demand for quiet and environmentally friendly air charter operations.
