Luton Airport is due for some operational changes. Anyone who has been there overnight will know that the airport is effectively full every night with overnighting based airliners filling every stand. In an effort to free up 5 more 737/319 sized stands the biz-jet operations of Harrods are to vacate the south stands, those facing the runway. Harrods will then operate flights from around their hangar, having been given some ramp space presently used for cargo work. Space is at a premium at Luton partly because of the number of business jets such as Global Expresses using the airport. Their wingspan means that they tie up stands big enough for airliners. These changes will take place later this year.
