Reuters are reporting that a commercial aircraft has crashed in a residential area in Kinshasa, there's no immediate word on casualties.

The BBC are reporting it was an AN-26.

There are all manner of conflicting news reports on the web all quoting different sources. It appears certain to have been an AN-26 but it could have been operated by either Africa 1 or Malila, either everyone onboard was killed or two people survived and the current number of confirmed fatalities could be between seventeen and thirty.

It's now being reported as TN-AGI (c/n 47302001), operated by Africa One Congo.

I've also seen it reported as 9Q-COS and there are still differing reports as to the owner/operator. The International Herald Tribune are now reporting thirty-nine fatalities though presumably this figure could still increase.
