One of my favorite one's.
It certainly did not lived up to be "THE" aircraft it should have become, and I think we all know why? But for the breaktrough in Jet-powered passanger aircrafts, the conception, and the design. It represented something new, the dawn of a new "species", the idea that we could fly faster, and higher, reaching new destinations, was to become of great importance to the future of air-travel. Acutally, the Comet is still in service today, heavily modified though, it comes to us in the form of the powerful workhorse know as the RAF's Nimrod, which through the MRA4 modifications will serve till 2020. That's almost 70 years after it's creation!
do you agree?
