Do you think the Lockerbie bomber should have been released?

Scotland released a former Libyan agent on Thursday who jailed for life for the 1988 Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie that killed 270 people because he is dying of cancer

"He is a dying man, he is terminally ill," Scottish justice minister Kenny MacAskill told a news conference. "My decision is that he returns home to die."

What do you think, should he have been released??

He who laughs last obviously has'nt heard the bad news.

I don't have a problem with him being released per se. It's the hype and hoopla that is being generated within Libya that gets my craw. Sure, let the guy die at home, but the "hero" status he has been given by Libyans is disgraceful. He was a hollow vessel of Gadhafi when he "obeyed orders" and planted the bomb, and he continues to be a vessel of propaganda now, with bussed-in "adoring" crowds to meet him.

Bottom line - he should have been transferred to a Hospice in Scotland and allowed to die in anonimity.

There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are very few old bold pilots.

I think he should have stayed in Jail. He showed no compassion to the passengers/crew and people on the ground who where killed or lost loved ones.

If he was innocent he should have proven his innocence through the proper appeals process. He should not have been released. What message does this send out to terrorist organisations? Even more worrying are the reports that this was done as part of negotiations for oil and gas!
