Emirates orders another 50 777-300ERs

Emirates has ordered an additional 50 Boeing 777-300ERs valued at $18 billion, the largest commercial aircraft order in the airframer's history.

The Dubai-based carrier is already the largest 777 operator with a fleet of 94 aircraft. It had another 41 on order before the latest announcement, which also includes options for another 20 aircraft.

"The 777's reliability, performance and operating economics have firmly established it as the backbone of our fleet," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and CEO of Emirates.

"We have an ambitious and strategic plan to continue growing our international network and especially increasing our long-haul non-stop routes. This order supports our fleet expansion and reiterates our commitment to operating a modern fleet for the benefit of our passengers and to ensure operational efficiency as well."

Egypt's PAS orders the CRJ900

Egyptian carrier Petroleum Air Services has ordered a single Bombardier CRJ900, which is set to be delivered in the first quarter of next year.

The deal with the Cairo-based company was disclosed by the Canadian airframer during the Dubai air show.

Petroleum Air Services operates flights for the energy industry but also provides charter services to tour operators, flying to domestic and international destinations.

The carrier has previously used Bombardier de Havilland Dash 7 and Dash 8 turboprops, and also provides helicopter services.

Bombardier said its agreement for the CRJ900 included a single-optioned aircraft.

NordStar Airlines has ordered three more ATR 42-600s 

This follows an order in September for two 42-600s with options for two more turboprops. The total value of the -600 purchase is $132 million,

said ATR. The airline also bought four 42-500s and options for three aircraft in 2010. "We have been operating four new ATR 42-500s since May 2011 and the aircraft have fully met our expectations," said NordStar general director Kirill Buryy. The -600s will help to add new routes and additional frequencies to the.

 

Oman Air orders six 787s

Oman Air is taking over an order for six Boeing 787-8s previously held by Kuwait-based leasing company ALAFCO.

"The airline completed an arrangement with Boeing and ALAFCO to transfer existing orders for the six Dreamliners from ALAFCO to Oman Air," the US manufacturer said at the Dubai air show.

Peter Hill, chief executive of Oman Air, said: "Our decision to order the 787-8 is part of Oman Air's long-term growth strategy to expand and modernise our fleet with newer, more fuel-efficient airplanes.

ALAFCO orders up to 80 A320neos

Kuwaiti lessor ALAFCO has firmed its tentative deal for 30 Airbus A320neo jets and added 20 more to the order.

It is complementing the firm deal for 50 of the twinjets with 30 options, to be finalised by the end of the year.

ALAFCO chief Ahmad Al Zabin signed the agreement during the Dubai air show.

The lessor has previously ordered 26 A320s, of which 25 have been delivered.

Airbus values the firm part of the deal at $4.6 billion at list prices.

ALAFCO sealed a tentative order for 30 A320neos at the Paris air show.

Comlux places order for first ACJ321

Comlux The Aviation Group’ has signed a commitment for an Airbus ACJ321 - the first ever placed with Airbus for the type – expanding the Airbus corporate jet family.

The Airbus ACJ321 features the widest and tallest cabin of any business jet, as well as even more floorspace and baggage capacity than today’s ACJ318, ACJ319 and ACJ320.

“Airbus’ ACJ321 will enable us to offer our passengers even more of the comfort and space that are the hallmarks of the Airbus corporate jet Family, while delivering the highest standards in service on board,” says Comlux Chief Executive Officer Richard Gaona.

“Adding the Airbus ACJ321 to our corporate jet family gives our customers an even wider choice in what is now established as the premier line in business jets,” says Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, John Leahy.

The Comlux Airbus ACJ321 will be outfitted by Comlux America. It will be powered by CFM International CFM56-5B engines.

The latest deal means that Comlux will be the first to operate the Airbus ACJ318, ACJ319,  ACJ320 and A321.

Aviation Capital Group (ACG) signs firm order for 30 A320neo

viation Capital Group (ACG), the United States based global aircraft leasing company, signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for 30 eco-efficient A320neo Family aircraft today at the 2011 Dubai Airshow.

This latest order from ACG for 30 A320neo’s brings the lessor’s total A320 Family order book to 98 aircraft. Engine selection on ACG’s A320neo fleet will be made at a later date.

Qatar Airways orders 2 Boeing 777 Freighters

Boeing and Qatar Airways today announced an order for two Boeing 777 Freighters at the 2011 Dubai Air Show. Valued at $560 million at current list prices, the airplanes will increase the airline's 777 Freighter fleet to eight when delivered.

"As we accelerate efforts to boost our global cargo network, we are expanding our fleet with airplanes like the Boeing 777 Freighter that allow us to deliver cargo further and more efficiently than ever before," said Akbar Al Baker, CEO, Qatar Airways. "The 777 Freighter has already proven itself with its impressive operating economics and is a critical component of our cargo fleet, enabling the launch of three new dedicated freighter services to Atlanta, Houston and Toronto, from our hubs in Doha and Luxembourg."  

Qatar Airways currently operates 28 Boeing 777s of various types, including 16 777-300ERs (extended range), three 777 Freighters and nine 777-200LRs. It recently took delivery of its 100th airplane which was a Boeing 777-200LR (longer range). By 2013, the airline plans to serve more than 120 destinations worldwide with a fleet of over 120 aircraft. The airline currently has a fleet of 100 aircraft flying to over 100 destinations.

Atlasjet sign letter of intent for10 CS300 twinjets + 5 options

Bombardier Aerospace has taken a step closer to achieving its goal of securing 300 orders for the CSeries before service entry with the announcement that Turkey's Atlasjet has signed a letter of intent to acquire 10 CS300 twinjets and taken options on a further five of the type.

The deal is expected to be firmed before the end of the year, said Bombardier senior vice-president of sales Chet Fuller during a press briefing at the Dubai air show.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2016 and end around the middle of 2017.

Spirit Airlines has inked a tentative deal to take 75 Airbus A320-family jets

 

US carrier Spirit Airlines has inked a tentative deal to take 75 Airbus A320-family jets, including 45 A320neos.

Spirit disclosed the plan at the Dubai air show. Engine selections have not been made.

The carrier already has 35 A320s.

Chief executive Ben Baldanza said the jets would be used on growth routes in the USA, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Airbus's deal takes the form of a memorandum of understanding, which chief operating officer for customer John Leahy said he hoped would be firmed "shortly".

Angara Airlines has placed an order for 10 Antonov An-148 regional jets 

Siberian operator Angara Airlines has placed an order for 10 Antonov An-148 regional jets with financial backing from local authorities.

Under the deal with lessor Ilyushin Finance, the Irkutsk-based carrier is to receive five extended 90-seat variants, -100E, over the next two years with an option for a further five in 2014.

Apart from 12 helicopters, Angara uses eight Antonov An-24 and three An-26 turboprops for inter-regional services in East Siberia and charter flights beyond.
