From Manchester Evening News:
"EasyJet said 17-year-old Sunil Monteiro's electric wheelchair was 'too heavy', that they do not have the special equipment required to load it and that their flight turnaround times to not allow for carrying such items. Sunil's dad Brendan, 53, a consultant psychiatrist, said the £373 flights were booked online by family friends who 'clicked' to confirm that they accepted easyJet's terms and conditions, which included the weight restriction. He only found out about the limit when he rang the airline to conform arrangements for his son, who relies on his 150 kilo electric wheelchair. The airline agreed a refund as a 'gesture of goodwill' - but stood by its policy of not handling wheelchairs that weigh more than 60 kilograms"

Well done to EasyJet for sticking to their guns on this one.
All too many times we see examples of people trying to get one over on the airlines, just because they 'weren't aware' of the company's Terms & Conditions. The father of the child even confirmed that whoever booked the flights had "accepted easyJet's terms and conditions, which included the weight restriction."
This smacks of someone who couldn't be bothered to read through the fine-print. Personally, I think that if you're too lazy to read and understand what the airline's Terms & Conditions cover, then you deserve to be inconvenienced, disability or not.
