Embraer’s E-Jets program reaches a significant milestone with the delivery of the 800th aircraft – an Embraer 190 in a tripartite ceremony held today at the Company’s headquarters in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, between Embraer, the aircraft’s recipient CDB Leasing Co., Ltd. (CLC), and the jet’s operator China Southern Air Holding Xinjiang Company, a subsidiary of China Southern Airlines, which is the largest airline in Asia and the fourth in the world in terms of traffic volume. The milestone was attained less than one year after the 700th E-Jet was delivered last November 2010.
The aircraft, the third Embraer 190 to be operated by China Southern Airlines, will join the airlines’ Embraer 190 fleet in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, which is expected to reach seven Embraer 190s by the end of this year. In accordance with current plan, taking advantage of the Embraer 190’s seating capacity and range performance, the fleet will support the operator to implement both domestic and international routes, including regional routes inside Xinjiang region, some hot routes eastbound from Xinjiang’s Urumqi, and some international routes to neighboring countries, as well, to assist the operator to expand its air transport network and increase its market share by building a hub and spoke network with convenient high-frequency schedules.
