Two thoughts
1) So it can land with one wing, but it's not so hot when everything aft of the cockpit disappears.
2) Didn't this incident launch the study of adaptable flight control systems, i.e. flight control computers that sense what control surfaces there are and how the plane wants to behave in order to adjust for significant battle damage? I cant remember who's working on it, but I'm sure I read it in Flight.
