IT IS TRUELLY UNREAL THE KNOWLEDGE OF "AIRCHAIR" PILOTS. ANY REAL PILOT WOULD TELL YOU THE F-22 IS VASTLY SUPERIOR IN EVERY ASPECT. AS FOR THE YANKS WANTING THE F-23 INSTEAD!!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? THERE IS NO SUCH PLANE. LOCKHEED AND NORTHRUP GRUMEN HAD A FLY OFF FOR THE CONTRACT, AND THE F-22 WON PERIOD. THE EUROFIGHTER IS A 4TH GEN FIGHTER. NO STEALTH, LESS G'S, HAS TO USE AFTERBURNER NO THRUST VECTORING. AS FOR THE RIDICULUS STATEMENT ABOUT F-22"S BEING BUILT FASTER THAN THEY COULD BE SOLD. MY GOD DO YOU EVEN HAVE A CLUE?? THE F-22 IS NOT BEING SOLD. JAPAN HAS OFFERED MASSIVE AMOUNTS FOR THEM, AS HAVE AUSTRALIA. DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK THEY WOULD SELL TECHNOLOGY THATS YEARS AHEAD OF THE WORLD?? WHY DO YOU THINK RUSSIA IS BUILDING A VIRTURAL COPY OF THE F-22? AND STILL SAY IT WON'T BE READY UNTIL 2016. AS FOR A TYPHOON SHOOTING DOWN A RAPTOR. THE TYPHOON HAS YET TO COMPETE IN RED FLAG. THE FRENCH DID SEND PEOPLE AND EQUIPMENT, BUT THEY BASICALLY JUST USED IT FOR TAKING STATS ON THE RAPTOR, IN OTHER WORDS SPYING FOR NO BETTER WORD. YOU CAN NEVER TRUST THE FRENCH. DO YOU EVER HEAR HEAR THE RUSSIAN OR CHINESE TALKING ABOUT A FIGHTER TO COMPARE TO THE TYPHOON? NO THEY USE THE F-22 AS THE BENCHMARK.

YO and gadzooks men. This is your chummy old Moderator here. Am I detecting just a touch of personal disparagement creeping unto some recent postings? Is this the British way chaps? Anyway, as an old aviator, I can assure you that a Mk. II Hawker Hurricane, fitted with 20mm cannon, would chew these two modern types to shreds in a close-hauled turning dogfight...so there! And real pilots practice 'Anger-management'...merrie cheers from ye ancient dakota67.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! I keep forgetting that the Yanks are the best at everything!

The Russians have had thrust vectoring for years and we had it on the harrier in the 60s! The F-22 had his ***(i say *** and not ass!) kicked at the end of last year in exercises with the French! What were the French using? A Rafale! Like your young country you need to get back into your cot and stay in there crying!

God Bless us we are talking fly-by-wire (FBW) here, I in my Black Hawk helicopter with ESSS mounted Podded Phase Array Radar PPOD (kindly surplused from F-14 stocks) would fry you ***es before you got a lock on my tree hugger, even with its "here I am" flashing rotor disk.

Focusable Microwaves are very bad for your average hardened system, because it is the armour Vs gun rule. "All things being equal, the gun will find the *** in the armour"., or something like that.

Thus the Hurricane would win.

Think about it

i would just like to say that it dont matter what you read about both planes, your never see any info on uk  stuff be beter then usa, even if it is.

the typhoon got alock on f22 at range which means it can shoot it down at range, and even the yanks admit it has better weapons,

but as is the norm we brits are not  to say anything that  might make us look better then anyone else, it the same with our tanks, we had the best tank in the world from 54 to 87 and so we do again, we never lost one tank in irq and only had one detracked even after beeing under attck for 2 hrs with no tracks.

but we not allowed to say anything and when someone does post about it on sites that raf or army people might read they told to closed the forum and say nothing more about it.

read here b4 the forum told to be closed

Such comparisons take no account of the large amount of variables.

Ceretus Paribus this is a no brainer, but  the real world and warfare is considerably more complex than these simplistic comparisons

If however the two aircraft were to find themselves in conf;ict I would suggest that the Typhoon would not make it to the runway, it would have its software corrupted at the mission planning stage, by invasive algorithims.

I could speculate all I want about which on is better but when it really comes down to it, I'm happy that the countries that own these two platforms are allies and I'd be happy to have both on my ramp...and the pilots that go with them.  As for the F-15 and F-16, they shouldn't even be in the same sentance as the Typhoon and F-22.  The F-15 was designed in the 1960's and the F-16 the 70's.  I love them both abd they are outstanding aircraft from their time but times have changed.  Both are still capable and bring a lot to the table but different from the F-22 and Typhoon.
