The owners of a ferry that helped rescue the passengers and crew of US Airways flight 1549 in January may file suit against the airline to recoup recovery costs.
We’ve already written about potential passenger lawsuits stemming from the Hudson River splashdown, but on Monday Crain’s New York Business reports that NY Waterway, a ferry company that primarily shuttles passengers between New Jersey and Manhattan is preparing a suit. The paper writes that, in addition to financial considerations, the ferry’s 83-year-old chief is frustrated by what he sees as a failure of US Airways to recognize the role his boats played in the rescue.
Crain’s also reports that New York Waterway is in financial distress due to declining ridership and expiring equipment loans that won’t be renewed. The paper’s reporter, Lisa Fickenscher, writes:
