UK regional carrier Flybe is intending to take delivery of its first four Embraer 175 regional jets in the current quarter, having pushed back their introduction.

The carrier confirmed the delivery plans for the twinjets in a trading update today, having previously said they would start arriving in August.

Flybe's share price, which has slid by two-thirds since the company's December 2010 debut on the stock exchange, took a hefty battering today, dropping by 40%.

The fall followed the airline's admission that it was experiencing a slowdown in sales

Flybe had said in July that its underlying profit before tax would be in line with its 2010-11 figure of £22 million ($34 million).

But the carrier admitted that its revenues were behind forecasts.

Flybe has been trying to bring its fleet capacity more into line with demand. While it is taking the new Embraer jets, it has agreed to dispose of several Bombardier Q400s.
