VISITORS
FlairJet Phenom G-NUDD (50000024) managed to touch down just after midnight, so became the first newcomer of the month. Arriving at a slightly more sensible time was Citation 560XLS OK-XLS (6060) registered to Silesia Air on its first Gatwick visit.

FLEET NEWS
EasyJet A319 G-EZEU (2283) left Southend today as CC-AFX on its delivery flight to Sky A/L.
Thomson A/W B738 G-TAWC (39922) made its first flight yesterday.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
A decent enough start to the year with January producing 48 first visits compared to a mere 21 last year. Mind you, much of the credit must go to THY, who provided 5 A320s, 14 A321s & 2 B738s that we hadn't seen before. The breakdown was 37 airliners, 10 biz jets & one helicopter. Apart from the new THY machines, the airliners included what was, to many people, the star of the month, Air Asia Philippines A320 RP-C8191 on its delivery flight. The rest comprised two of the newer Ryanair B738s, a Jet2 B738, the latest Thomson A/W B738 on its delivery flight, the three newest Norwegian B738s, our first sight of an Omni Air B772, another Vietnam A/L B772, both the latest Emirates B773s, a CityJet 146, the third Estonian Air CRJ9, a UK registered Legacy & a very rare type these days in the form of a RAF Tristar.
Among the biz jets, old favourite Gulf 5 ZS-AOL appeared as ZS-AJL & doubtless the new ZS-AOL, now a Gulf 550, will visit in due course. Also from South Africa was BD700 ZS-AMP. The new helicopter was a UK registered EC135T.
Little new on the airline front except that Air Zimbabwe seems to have taken fright after the impounding of one of its B762s last month & has cancelled all Gatwick flights since then.

Cebu Pacific has a novel take on safety demonstrations as these clips from You Tube show - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqh8e2KYIrU & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5D91KSkpkt4 I wonder if it will catch on over here? Come on easyJet & Ryanair - give it a go (perhaps not - somehow I don't think it would be the same!). As I am flying with Cebu Pacific from Manila to Ho Chi Minh next month, I am looking forward to seeing this for real!

Our long stay MD80 I-DAVA was due to be towed from the 150s to the 230s this afternoon prior to a final move at a later date.
