VISITORS
A useful bunch of newcomers to kick off the new month with an A332 & three B738s. Air China A332 B-6080 (815) was first to appear on the early Beijing run & was followed by Ryanair B738 EI-EVL (40299) on the first Dublin service of the day & also returned on the second flight. Aerosvit restarted their service from Kiev at lunchtime with the first appearance here of B738 UR-AAO (38120), which was only delivered from Boeing Field to Kiev a week ago. This was the carrier's second B738 to be delivered & a further five are due this year. The evening provided us with a first visit from Calima Aviacion B738 EC-LKO (28821 ex F-GRNC, D-ABBL) subbing for Strategic A/L &, unfortunately, in a boring all white scheme.
On its second visit was A320 OK-LEE.

FLEET NEWS
Air Berlin A319 D-ABGS (3865) is now SP-IBA & was ferried from Dusseldorf to Ostrava today for painting into OLT Express scheme.
BMI Regional. The sale of BMI Regional to Sector Aviation Holdings was completed today.
Cimber Sterling. The ferry flight of B737 OY-MRG (28010) to Eindhoven was cancelled again yesterday.
EasyJet A319 G-EZIE (2446), which was cancelled from the register on 25/4, was delivered from Ostrava to Volgograd today as VP-BDZ for RusLine.
Emirates B773 A6-EGS (41078) made its first flight yesterday.
Lufthansa. The ferry flights of A319s D-AKNH (0794) & D-AKNJ (1172) from Budapest to Munich were delayed until today.

ROUTE NEWS
Aerosvit. Much to my surprise, this carrier made a welcome reappearance today. According to the Gatwick website timetable it should appear five time weekly (not days 2 & 4), eta 12.50, etd 14.10.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
In case you hadn't noticed, May was an extraordinarily good month for first visits with a massive total of 90 (compared to 63 in the same month last year). In fact, it was the best month I have on record since I started keeping notes about such things in January 2007, beating the former highest month (November 2007) by 7. We only had one blank day & that was only blank because Gulf 4 N424QS failed to take up its evening slot.
The breakdown was 73 airliners, 14 biz jets, one biz prop & two helicopters. Three new easyJet A320s were delivered here & our scheduled carriers provided the following newcomers - Air Berlin one A320 & a B738, Air Europa one B738, Emirates two B773s, Estonian Air one E170, Holidays Czech A/L two A320s, Korean Air six B772s, Lufthansa two A319s, two A321s & two CRJ7s, Rossiya one A319, Ryanair five B738s, Thomson A/W four B738s, THY five A320s & seven B738s. New services were started by Air China who sent in ten A332s & Air Nigeria with a single A332 leased from Egyptair. Chelsea's football match in Munich & the rugby final at Twickenham gave us an Air Finland B752, Bin Air Metro, Edelweiss A333, Germania B737, Jet2 B733, Orbest A332 & two Transavia B738s. A Eurolot DH8D was delivered through here though, disappointingly, the next two went through Manchester, while other airline newcomers were an Air Italy B738, Medallion Air MD83, Neos B738, Small Planet A/L B733 & a German CRJ. Finally, two Thomson A/W B752s had US registrations applied here before heading off to the US for FedEx.
Military newcomers were a French A/F C160R & an Italian A/F Falcon 900EX. Other biz jets included three Yugoslav Citations, a US registered Eclipse & a Manx HS125. The biz prop was a Manx PC-12, while the two helicopters were a Redhill based R-44 & an American AS350B.
