VISITORS
Blink Ltd Citation 510 G-FBKC (0127) came & went on its first visit this morning. A pair of Eastern European B737 Classics made their debuts at lunchtime, Aerosvit B734 UR-VVM (25736 ex EI-BXK) on the service from Kiev & Belavia B733 EW-336PA (26312 ex N14383, G-BZZG, G-TOYC, VQ-BHD) from Minsk.
Second visits were made today by Air China A332 B-6130, THY B738 TC-JFR & all white Ten A/W MD82 YR-OTN (for Air Moldova). EasyJet A320 G-EZWC operated its first revenue earning service today (to Malta). Good to see that Air Berlin have used a B738 & two A320s on the last three flights from Nuremberg rather than the same old crop of B737s & let's hope it continues.

FLEET NEWS
Aer Lingus A320 EI-DET (2810) is now OO-SNF & was due to leave Shannon today on delivery to Brussels for Brussels A/L. EI-CVD (1467) was ferried from Bordeaux to Dublin today after painting into Air Blue scheme & prior to delivery as AP-EDD.
Air China. I will mention this one just in case it turns up on CCA851 next month or in September. B773 B-2032 (38671) left Paine Field yesterday on delivery to Beijing & is in Star Alliance scheme.
EasyJet A320 G-EZWD (5249) made its first flight today as D-AXAH.
Emirates B773 A6-EGV (38990) left Paine Field yesterday on delivery to Dubai.
Jet2 B752 G-LSAN (26635) was ferried from Norwich to Southend today after painting into Jet2 Holidays scheme.
Lufthansa A319 D-AIBH (5239) was delivered from Finkenwerder to Frankfurt today.
Meridiana MD83 EI-CRW (49951), which left Olbia on 1/3 for storage at Marana, AZ, was cancelled from the Irish register on 2/7 & registered to Wells Fargo Bank Northwest as N276CS on 5/7.
OLT Express Poland. Having arrived at Southend from Warsaw yesterday morning, A319 SP-IBC (2460) promptly upped & headed off to Sofia in the afternoon, while A320 SP-IAE (1454) was ferried from Ostrava to Dublin this morning. Correcting yesterday, SP-IAB is c/n 0566 not 2142, which is correctly shown as SP-IAD.
Spanair A321 EC-INB (1946), temporarily registered EI-EUJ, made an acceptance flight from Perpignan yesterday prior to delivery to Mihin Lanka.

ROUTE NEWS
None today.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
Considering Gatwick's proximity & good links to London, I was amazed & very disappointed how few visitors we played host to for the start of the Olympics. Biggin, Farnborough, Luton & Stansted were always going to get the bulk of the traffic but, given the availability of slots & lack of a night curfew, I had expected considerably more aircraft to visit us than actually turned up. Even more galling was the fact that some of the more interesting ones that were expected failed to show at all (e.g. the Somon Air B738 & Mongolian B763). Despite my whinge about the lack of Olympics movements, July was still a good month at Gatwick for newcomers with 61 first visits, only one less than last July's record total. The breakdown was 45 airliners, 12 biz jets, 3 helicopters & one twin.
Among our scheduled carriers, THY continues to provide newcomers with one A319, an A320, an A321 & three B738s, Lufthansa only managed one A320, Air China sent us two more A332s & our first sight of one of their B773s, easyJet had another A320 delivered, Norwegian sent in their latest B738, Ryanair managed two more B738s, Aerosvit used their two recently delivered ex Cimber Sterling B737s, Air Europa operated their latest B738, Titan showed up with their new B752 on behalf of various carriers, Korean Air came up with another B772, Onur Air at last used one of their newer A321s, while Emirates sent us two more B773s & a one-off visit from an A388. Other airliners included a SATA A310, Orbest A320, Meridiana A320, Cosmo A/L A320, Swiftair AT72 & MD82, a Miami Air B738 on lease to Arkefly, Blue Panorama B763 & an Augsburg E190. Highlight of the Olympics visitors was the Ukraine Air Enterprise Il-62M, even though it has been to the UK before. Disappointingly, Aeroflot only provided an A319, A320 & A321 instead of the predicted A330s (a shame as I might have actually made some of the A330s). The rest of the airliner newcomers comprised two OLT Express A320s, just before the carrier went out of business, three Travel Service B738s & a Sunwing A/L B738 on summer lease to Thomson A/W & wearing retro Hapag-Lloyd scheme & titles, while smaller visitors were CRJ2 OD-TAL, CRJ8 RA-67232 & E145 F-HAFS.
Among the biz jets, the more interesting ones were two Citation Mustangs - one from Spain & the other from Estonia. The helicopters were all British registered machines & the twin was a German Cheyenne.

Joining the register yesterday was Falcon 900DX G-ECHB (623 ex D-AMIG) for TAG Aviation.
