VISITORS
Just the one newcomer today & that was CityJet B462 EI-RJT (E2366), which diverted in on a "mayday" this evening due to smoke in the cockpit. Little else of interest, though the appearance of a B717 at Gatwick is a rare event & this is the first time that one has visited wearing Quantum Air scheme. A bit of excitement was caused when a couple of microlights wandered into the zone this evening causing one aircraft to break of its approach, another to do a 360 & a couple more to go into the hold. This was shortly before the CityJet "mayday" & certainly kept the controllers busy.
FLEET NEWS
Flybe. There is a rumour on the Flight Global website that the airline is to park four EMB195s & that the next five DHC-8Q-400s due for delivery have been sold (possibly to Wideroe?). The rumour also suggests that the next four EMB195s (G-FBLA/B/C/D) may have been sold to Lufthansa Cityline.
Thomson A/W A321 G-OOAV (1720) has become VQ-BCX with Ural A/L & was delivered from Manchester to Ekaterinburg yesterday.
ROUTE NEWS
Astraeus may have taken over the Daallo A/L contract from Jet2 as the outbound DAO100 to Djibouti was operated this evening by B752 G-OJIB (24292).
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
Adding another snippet to the NAX B738 list from 2 days ago, Robbie Shaw tells me that LN-NOF now has Edvard Munch on the tail.
EasyJet's load factor in April was 85.2%, up 1.9% on last April's 83.3%, while Ryanair's was 82%, up 3% on last April's 79%. It seems as though not all airlines are having a hard time.
