VISITORS
Sunwing B738 C-FEAK (30292 ex OY-SEK, N292AG) arrived from Toronto in the early hours of this morning. It features an orange & blue tail with large blue VIKING titles on the forward fuselage (see the Skyliner site for a photo). It is for summer lease to Viking. As anticipated, Air Europa EMB195 EC-KRJ (19000196) was a newcomer & operated both the airline's flights today.
FLEET NEWS
Air Baltic B733 YL-BBS (29267) will be delivered from Southend to Riga in the next few days. It was previously with Flyglobespan as G-GSPN.
Astraeus should soon have its B733 as EI-DOM (24011) of KD Avia was ferried from Kiev to Lasham today as KNI8054 & will become G-TRAW. The prospective B735 G-PJPJ (27355) made a test flight from Southend this evening, though still as G-GFFJ.
Flybe. Correcting yesterday's roundup, please delete reference to G-FBLA/B/C/D, which are, of course, allocations for DHC-8s & not EMB195s. DHC-8 G-ECOB (4185), currently with Wideroe as LN-WDT, is reported to be returning to Flybe around the 23rd or 24th May.
Karthago A/L B733 TS-IEE 924790) became N790AW with AWAS on 27/4 & was due to be ferried from Tunis to Santa Maria (Azores) today, presumably en route to the USA.
Thomas Cook A333 OY-VKI (357) arrived at Gatwick from Filton this afternoon after being painted into standard Thomas Cook scheme. This is being leased for the summer from the airline's Scandinavian subsidiary.
Thomson A/W B752 G-OOBG (29942) was restored to the UK register yesterday. B733 G-THOI (29327) was cancelled from the UK register yesterday & was expected to leave Lasham today on delivery to Sao Paulo as PR-WJN for WebJet.
Viking A/L has leased Sunwing B738 C-FEAK (30292) for the summer & it arrived at Gatwick on delivery this morning.
XL A/W B738 G-XLAG (33003) was finally cancelled from the UK register yesterday & should now have taken up Indonesian marks with Garuda.
ROUTE NEWS
African Alliance will begin a four times weekly service from Banjul starting on 2/6. This will have an eta of 05.50 on days 2, 3 & 6 & 08.20 on day 7. The bad news is that a Flyglobespan B763 will operate the flights.
EasyJet's winter schedule (yes, I know, it isn't even summer yet!) shows an increase on the Zurich & Vienna services to twice daily & Munich to three times daily.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
All four easyJet Switzerland flights from Geneva were around 4 or more hours late today, as they have been on several occasions in the last couple of weeks. The three flights that have arrived so far have all been operated by UK rather than Swiss registered aircraft. This very poor reliability is not an uncommon problem with this airline, as I have mentioned a number of times in the past, & here's hoping that they can do better next week when a lot of us will be using them to fly to & from EBACE.
