The next roundup will appear on Friday 14/12.Ryanair is apparently threatening the Aviation Herald with legal action concerning comments made by its readers regarding an incident at Memmingen in September. See:http://avherald.com/h?article=45a1cb11&opt=0andhttp://avherald.com/h?article=459fa8f6&opt=0Following advice from my legal eagle I shall refrain from comment! The VFW-614 was an early West German designed airliner, built as a DC-3 replacement & was unique in having its engines located above the wings. It was not a financial success, with only 19 ever taking to the air. Most were retired in 1981, though the German A/F continued to fly them until 1999. Since then, the only flying example has been D-ADAM (G17) operated by the DLR Flugtriebe for test purposes. This last aircraft has now been replaced by A320 D-ATRA (0659) & was ferried from Braunschweig to Oberschleissheim today for preservation. Despite the small number built, it is already surprisingly well represented on the preservation scene with D-ASAX (G15) at Bremen (as "D-BABK"), D-ASDB (G19) at Kemble, D-AXDB (G18) at Nordholz, N614GB (G14) at Berlin/Tempelhof & OY-TOR (G04) at Speyer. Those that visited Gatwick were:D-BABC (G03) Fokker-VFW 26/07/74D-BABE (G05) Air Alsace 30/06/77F-GATG (G05) Air Alsace 03/02/78F-GATH (G13) Air Alsace 29/09/78F-GATI (G15) Air Alsace 07/05/7817+01 (G14) WGAF 10/12/86 17+03 (G19) WGAF 13/03/86Hardly worth posting, but here is what Mr Anon's crystal ball has come up with for tomorrow:Regulars - AEE606/SX-DVO, GBQ1600/D-ASTA, TSC522/C-GTSI, UAE11/A6-EGNNAX flights - 1ZN/NOV, 14X/DYG, 32A/NOG, 38W/KHB, 51M/NIA, 5816/NOFCREDITSLes Wallis, Simon Shoubridge, Malcolm Baldry, Nick Yeadon, Mr Anon, Jethro, Skyliner, ATDB, Chris Tarrant & anybody else that I have forgotten.Happy spotting!
