Loadmaster Malcolm Porter will give a talk entitled "The life and TYNES of a loadie". Malcolm is an expert on the Canadair CL-44/Yukon/CL-44-0 Guppy and has a wealth of tales to tell from his travels with these wonderful propliners. In addition to his CL-44 exploits he was involved with a huge variety of other aircraft and some very "entertaining" crew/managers/owners.He promises to keep us glued to our seats with true stories of 5cwt omelets in a Handley-Page Hastings, dead whales in a Bristol Freighter en route to Northolt for the Queen, elephants for TMAC, his time in Rhodesia shipping loads of "interesting" freight, tales of that nice man Mr Gaddafi and F/O Mop (honest), Sky Air's B707 making an overweight takeoff every night for the RAF out of Brize Norton, SAT L-100 Hercules in Miami, Zimex Herc in Vichey and then in Khartoum, his own airline "oop north", BAe's disaster ship the STA and of course his all-time-favourite Conroy CL-44-0 N447T!We would like a good turnout please so cancel the pub outing, tell the wife you are busy and can't go to visit her mum, bring £3 to get in and come along and enjoy the evening.
