VISITORS
No newcomers today & just a second visit from Lufthansa A319 D-AIBJ.
No stranger to Gatwick, Air Caraibes A332 F-OFDF positioned in for Hi Fly. Hong Kong A/L A332 B-LNK departed as expected, but only on an air test, getting about as far as Southampton before returning to Gatwick. Caribbean A/L B763 9Y-LHR returned to Port of Spain this afternoon, still displaying LAN9900 in the callsign box on SBS.

FLEET NEWS
Emirates B773 A6-ENA (41082) left Paine Field today on delivery to Dubai.
Estonian Air. Although we are due to lose this carrier shortly, the following may be of interest. The last B735 service will be flown this month & the last CRJ9 service on 30/03/13. The three E190s on order are due to enter service from February.
Lufthansa B733 D-ABET (27903) left Frankfurt today for scrapping at Tulsa, OK.
Thomas Cook B752 G-TCBA (28203) was withdrawn from service at Manchester on 10/10 & is due to go to FedEx in November as N972FD.
Virgin Atlantic A333 G-VWAG (1341) was registered yesterday & delivered from Toulouse to Zurich today.

ROUTE NEWS
None today.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
I am amazed that there are still idiots like this around. Mind you, it was in America.............
"Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport was evacuated on Sunday when a man checking in to an Alaska Airlines flight made a joke about carrying a bomb in a bag. The man was arrested and the airport was evacuated. Passengers were herded out of the airport into the freezing cold at about midnight until shuttle buses could be organized to take them to another terminal. After an all clear at about 3 a.m., the airport re-opened. The man who made the ill-advised bomb joke is being held on $5,000 bail." With thanks to TravelMole

Given Caribbean Airways' tendency to register its aircraft with the three-letter IATA codes of the places it flies to, I hope the use of 9Y-LHR isn't a portent...
