VISITORSFour newcomers today, starting early this morning with Gulfstream 5 N108CE (561) registered to Issa Acquisitions, which arrived from Teterboro. Our next first visit was made by recently delivered Air Europa B738 EC-LPR (36588) on the first Madrid run, but which also appeared late afternoon on the second service as well. The day's third newcomer was Phenom 300 OK-PHE (50500062) registered to Houseglade Ltd & which arrived early in the afternoon from Bratislava. This was only the fourth Phenom to visit Gatwick & while the other three were Phenom 100s, this was the first of the larger Phenom 300s that we have seen here. The day was rounded off by a first appearance from Lufthansa A319 D-AIBB (4182) from Frankfurt.Contrary to yesterday, two reliable sources on the spot assure me that NO easyJet aircraft diverted to Bournemouth on Monday - just 3 BA B737s & TOM B738 G-TAWA.FLEET NEWSAerosvit B738 UR-AAO (38120) made its first flight yesterday.Air Berlin A320 D-ABFL (4463) has become F-HDMF for Air Corsica & was delivered from Munich to Ajaccio on 13/4.Astraeus B752 G-STRW (24543) was cancelled from the register on 17/4 & has become N176CA at Lasham for National Air Cargo.EasyJet. A319 G-EZID (2442), which was cancelled from the register on 12/4, has become VP-BDY & left Southend this morning bound for Ostrava for painting for Kuban A/L. Spanair A320 EC-JJD (2479), now registered EI-EUO, was delivered from Dublin to Barcelona for Vueling today & is to become EC-LRA.Thomas Cook B752s G-FCLD (28718) & G-JMCE (30758) were restored to the register on 17/4 following their winter lease to Jazz Air as C-GJZX & C-GJZH.Titan A/W. You may recall that this carrier is due to receive two B752s from AtlasJet in the near future. It is now known that the first aircraft, TC-OGT (29308), will become G-POWH. The second aircraft is TC-OGS (29307) & at a guess it will be registered G-POWI.ROUTE NEWSDelta A/L. Further to yesterday, I am grateful to Paul Smith for sending me the following "I am afraid I must correct you on the scenario regarding the operation of the Delta flight from Atlanta. The service actually began in April 1978, at the same time as the Braniff service from Dallas Fort Worth, operated by the two machines on lease from TWA and both painted in full Delta colours; the two aircraft were given the Delta fleet numbers of 798 and 799. Delta did not at that time have a Tristar with the range to operate the service and leased the two TWA machines until the delivery of their own Tristar 500's. N724DA was used as the back up machine". My thanks also to Paul Seymour for his input. Unfortunately, I had no interest in civil aircraft at that time, so was unable to delve back into my own memories & log books & am very pleased to be able to put the record straight. In addition, despite the information coming from a normally reliable source, it seems that Tristar registrations N798DA & N799DA were never actually taken up, but remained as N81028 & N31029.
