VISITORS
A trio of first visits for the fourth day in a row (if it was only like that every day!). Our first newcomer was Vietnam A/L B772 VN-A143 (33502), the sixth of the fleet to visit us this month so far, arriving from Hanoi this morning. Lunchtime provided us with another new Turk in the shape of A321 TC-JRR (4706), while Flybe E175 G-FBJC (17000327) positioned in for the first time operating from/to Turin.

FLEET NEWS
Astraeus B752 G-OJIB (24292) was cancelled from the register yesterday & reregistered as N938FD for FedEx.
British A/W B735 G-GFFD (26419), which has been stored at Istanbul/Sabiha Gokcen, was cancelled from the register yesterday as transferred to Kyrgyzstan.
Emirates B773 A6-EGL (41072) made its first flight yesterday.
Jet2. Just to confirm that G-GDFF (28385 ex EC-HGP) was registered yesterday.
United A/W. Just in case they do ever restart the Gatwick service, former Blue Line machine S2-AFW (674 ex F-HBOS) left Bordeaux today on delivery to Dhaka.

ROUTE NEWS
None today.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
The first A332 tanker for the RAF was registered yesterday to Air Tanker Ltd as G-VYGA (1046 ex EC-337). It will become ZZ331. B462 G-BVMS (E2227) of Trident Aviation Leasing, which is stored at Bucharest, was cancelled from the register yesterday as transferred to Indonesia & is for Aviastar Mandari.

Sad news today (to me anyway!) is that BAC 1-11 XX105 (008) was broken up at Boscombe Down last weekend. Despite having been part of the museum there, it was not in very good condition & the metal moth had taken its toll, hence this act of apparent wanton vandalism. Apart from the fact that it was once Gatwick-based, this machine was of significance to me as it was the first jet that I ever flew on when it carried me from Jersey to Gatwick on 17/04/66 as JY118 while registered G-ASJD with BUA, to whom it had been delivered only eight months earlier. It later became part of the Caledonian & then BCAL fleet before being sold to the RAE Bedford on 21/09/71, later serving with the renamed DRA & then QinetiQ before making its last flight on 05/06/03.
